The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia is seeking an undergraduate level (Junior or Senior) with preferred majors in Economics, Computer Science or Finance. This opening is onsite and will consider hybrid candidates as well. The work schedule is Monday - Friday (40 hour per week). This is a 10-week paid internship. The hourly rate for this position is $21.00 per hour.

Intern projects:

  • You will assist two research projects. The first analyzes mortgage lending decision using CHMDA in the period of high inflation and high mortgage rates and whether large and small banks price differently. This is a joint project with Neil Bhutta. The second project explores the labor market implications of habit persistence in home good/leisure activity. The intern will search and analyze potential data that supports the notion that there exists habit persistence in home good consumption and leisure consumption.
  • You will assist two of our Senior Regional Economic Analysts on preliminary research for two topics that feed our pipeline for Regional Spotlight articles and other needs. The intern will be involved in the literature search, data gathering, data cleaning, preliminary analysis, and documentation of each step. This will provide the intern with in-depth exposure to regional economic theories, general economic analysis, and several analytical tools.
  • As time permits (and our needs dictate), yo may be asked to assist in discrete tasks on other Regional Economic Analysis Team projects. The intern will also have the opportunity to participate in research department seminars and meetings of the regional economics group.

Required Skills:

Microsoft office suite fluency required

Experience and familiarity with statistical/econometric software would be helpful

Proficient with Stata preferred

Knowledgeable in R and Python would be a plus
