About the Role
The Director, Retail Technical Operations will be responsible for overseeing all sports retail platform rollouts and providing ongoing sports technical operations expertise and support. This individual will also be accountable for the creation of all test scripts used for retail feature upgrades and will work closely with the technical engineering team to approve any new releases both from a feature and NFR perspective. They will also be accountable for all regulatory technical submissions and approvals for all retail sports technical items.
The individual in this role will also train and manage a small deployment team which will carry out any new installations and coordinate version upgrades both within BetMGM and our tribal partners. This person will also direct 1st and 2nd level support activities for the retail sports area and provide key skills when providing technical troubleshooting approach, in addition to coordinating and executing regulatory and partner training on all aspects of the retail sports products.
This individual will be a key senior role within technology and be part of the senior technology leadership team, collaborating with the technical solutions, service management office, and incident management. The role will also be a key stakeholder for overall retail sports operations and provide operational inputs into product roadmap items.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee, manage, and as needed, create sports retail deployment runbooks
  • Serve as final point of escalation for all retail incidents
  • Direct planning and execution of all retail deployment rollout
  • Develop sports retail technical operations roadmap strategy and manage roadmap submissions/refinements
  • Direct sports technical operational activities to support the project management team
  • Act as a point of escalation for any retail sports related incidents
  • Manage Retail user account management and roles
  • Accountable for sports technical operational MICS
  • Accountable for all sports regulatory technical submissions and approvals
  • Accountable for the technical retail sports transition from properties to BetMGM
  • Accountable for all retails sports operational stakeholder management
  • Accountable for all retail test plans
  • Accountable for full resolution of incidents and providing details of financial impact to business
  • Train and mentor junior members of the team
  • Provide input and review any regulatory incidents
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders to mitigate project risks and blockers
  • Manage sports technical resources to ensure prompt delivery of both BAU and project support
  • Manage technical relationship with development teams
  • Document all aspects of the role
Essential Functions
  • Must be able to stand or sit and operate computers and other technological devices for extended periods of time
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree desired
  • 7+ years of experience assisting in the delivery of technical projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • 7+ years of experience in sports retail technical operations
  • 5+ years of experience in production systems support and incident management
  • 5+ years of experience in operating in regulatory markets
  • Proficient in US sports terminology and sports
  • Ability to successfully work across cultures and locations, driving team cohesion and effectiveness
  • Superior communication & interpersonal skills are required
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Experience working alongside a wide range of stakeholders including vendors, regulators, partners, and third parties
  • Experience using tools such as Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, Trello, etc. to maintain project documentation and facilitate stakeholder collaboration is preferred
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience in a gaming, hospitality, retail, or similar industry is preferred

Applicable salary ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. The position is also eligible for an annual bonus.
