Our Small Bookkeeping office is in Waller, TX. We really believe that we are changing the world – one small business at a time. Please make sure to read this ENTIRE job ad, you will be glad you did, when you get to the questions to fill out when applying for this position. Honestly, the job is not all flowers and puppy dogs – there is some good news and some bad news.

Bad News

The pay sucks. Meaning you will not get rich at this job. It can be some extra spending money for sure. However, if you are seeking a job to support a household than this is not the job for you. Do not apply for this job if you need to support your family – you will be wasting both of our time.

Good News:

· We do not do stress or drama here. We expect you to work efficiently and get things done, we focus on open communication and getting things done right the first time around.

· You will experience things, do things, and make decisions on things that no big stuffy company would ever allow you to do.

· After a year here, you get to participate in a 4% match in the 401k plan. After 90 days, you get paid holidays, paid life insurance, and short-term disability.

· You don’t need to be skilled at seg-waying or bowling or escaping a room or ice-skating, but you will likely be doing all of those things. Every quarter we like to celebrate our wins and do something fun as a team.

· This is a family friendly, great work environment.

· We are a non-smoking company.

· We are also a Christian based company.

· Closed on Friday’s after tax season! (with our growth - not sure how much longer we can stay closed on Fridays)

Responsibilities May include:

  • Monthly Reporting and Closing
  • Monthly financial analysis
  • Budgeting, consolidation, analysis, costing
  • Run ad-hoc queries mostly related to revenue growth and margin improvement
  • Books manual journal entries as needed
  • Maintains and reconciles ledger accounts
  • Provides record of assets, liabilities and other financial transactions
  • Balances books periodically and prepares profit and loss, income and balance sheet statements
  • Maintains receipts and disbursement reports
  • May interpret reports and records for managers
  • Process miscellaneous payments, inter-company transfer, checks returned NSF and unidentified payments
  • Lead and assist special projects as assigned
  • Participate in additional projects/activities to support ongoing business needs


Knowledge & Skills:

  • Knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP) and best practices
  • Ability to prepare and analyze data, figures and transcriptions prepared on and generated by computer
  • Advanced Knowledge of Excel and working knowledge of Outlook
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, including prioritization skills
  • Ability to establish positive work relationships and effective collaboration skills
  • Ability to apply good judgement, strong work ethics & integrity on the job


Experience:

  • 3 - 5 years of related work experience
  • 2 + years of experience processing month end close, liabilities, assets and reconciliations


Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field or equivalent experience

Job Requirements:

1 You need to be the type of person who gets joy out of getting things done. Every day, you will bang out a list of stuff. Important stuff. Necessary stuff.

2. You will be on the computer a lot. We use A LOT of apps to do our job such as: Asana, QB Time, QBO, Microsoft office, SmartVault, etc. You don't know how to use all the apps, but you MUST know how to use a computer, be able to keep track of all your passwords, and be trainable.

3. You will be on the phone a lot. So, you need to enjoy talking with people and giving/getting direction.

4. You need to be a person who loves to deliver remarkable experiences to other people. You know, you need to be someone who feels good by making other people feel good.

5. You need to nail down the details. You don’t need to race through work and get things done half-ass. We need you to slow down and get them done right.

6. We want you to be meticulous in your work. If you are shy or quiet that is fine also. We are not looking for the life of the party…in fact, quite the opposite. We are looking for a good, fun person, who gets their work done.

7. Must be able to handle sarcasm. (It is how the owner gives hugs).

8. Applicant must pass background check, and complete several other items that the owner requires of all applicants during the hiring process. Our interview process is long, we try HARD to hire the right fit, the first time.
