Skilled Laborer

POSITION SUMMARY:

Skilled Labor is responsible for field operations on the project(s) assigned to achieve safe, quality, and profitable projects completed in a timely manner. This position must demonstrate organizational and time management skills.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Safety

• Promotes Manhattan's culture of "Safety First"
• Project safety implementation and management in accordance with Manhattan's Safety Program
• Interacts with the Superintendent and Safety Manager to ensure a safe workplace
• Enforces Site Specific Safety Plans by enforcing Manhattan's rules; this includes your workers, other crews, and any trade on-site

Operational

• Be familiar with and follow Manhattan Construction Company Policies
• Assist equipment operators, carpenters, and other skilled laborers when necessary
• Operate and care for construction equipment and machines
• Prep construction sites by cleaning obstacles and hazards
• Follow instructions from supervisors
• Load or unload construction materials
• Placing, spreading, and vibrating concrete.
• Striping moving concrete formwork.
• Ready to learn from on-the-job training when necessary
• Perform site clean-up
• Knowledge of construction practices and terminology
• Demonstrates Integrity
• Displays a sense of urgency
• Other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:

Construction Industry Knowledge

• Broad understanding of concrete construction experience

Technological Knowledge

WORK CONDITIONS AND HOURS:

Conditions and hours

• Works on-site over rough terrain
• Requires overtime hours
• Often exposed to the elements
• Must be comfortable with travel on a need-to-need basis
• Must be able to lift 70 lbs.
• Some weekends are required
• Frequent activity of Standing, Kneeling, Walking, Climbing, Bending, reaching above Shoulders, Pushing, and Pulling
• Must be able to climb and work at heights above 6 feet

Education

• One (1) year Construction Experience
• One (1) Concrete Construction Experience

Certifications

• OSHA 10 Certified
