Responsibilities

Let the Journey begin! Howmet Aerospace is now seeking to fill positions for Fluorescent Penetrate Inspectors (FPI) on 2nd and 3rd shift

As a Fluorescent Penetrate Inspector you will:

  • Perform inspection operations including receiving, final and all in-process inspections on all part types.
  • Process material through pre-clean operations prior to FPI.
  • Process material through FPI line and perform process checks.
  • Perform daily and weekly calibration checks.
  • Follow operational sheets and maintaining all quality records.
  • Resolving problems as they arise
  • Individual may also be trained and responsible for heat treat furnaces.

Essential Functions

  • Inspect material to operation sheet requirements.
  • Maintain all quality records.
  • Gage, set-up and run airflow, waterflow and moment weigh.
  • Pack, unpack and load material, review and replace totes and liners if necessary.
  • Process parts through powerwash, ultrasonic clean, FPI line and pre-etch.
  • Perform daily and weekly systems and calibration checks on each shift.
  • Restock penetrate supplies and materials and department supplies.
  • Assist Level II inspectors with parts handling.
  • Maintain at least FPI Level I certification.
  • Assist in training of new inspectors and FPI personnel.
  • Perform inspections of high visual concentration for a period of 2 hours continuously.
  • Resolve problems as required; contact Quality Engineer or FPI Level 3 as needed.
  • Final inspection of parts to OP sketch requirements.
  • Perform 6S audits and other area requirements.
  • Maintain acceptable attendance.
  • Input serial list numbers into heat treat data base.
  • Must have 160 hours of Level I processing and on the job training in addition to 20 classroom hours to meet the requirements as a certified FPI Level I. Must continue to progress to the FPI Level II role through on-the-job training and classroom hours.

Job Specifications

Education:

High School diploma or GED

Skills and Abilities:

  • Basic understanding of addition, subtraction, multiplication and the division of numbers including decimal and fractions; simple use of formulas, charts tables, drawings, specifications, schedules, writing diagrams, computer scanning devices.
  • Basic skills and knowledge using adjustable measuring instruments for checking of reports, forms, records and comparable data; where interpretation is required involving basic skills knowledge.

Experience:

1 year of manufacturing inspection. FPI experience preferred but not required
