Job Title: Station Manager

Location: Peoria, Illinois


Purpose:

Responsible for all aspects of the station, including sales, freight forwarding operations, terminal handling and warehousing operations, customer service, customs clearance and billing. Ensures and is held accountable for the profitability of the station.


Key responsibilities:

  • Deals with local authorities and acts as a legal representative of the station.
  • representative of the station towards employees, e.g. organizing company events and go-to person for station personnel on non-functional topics.
  • Decided upon all administrative matters at station.
  • Leads negotiations with external suppliers.
  • Accompanies Field Sales and Key Account Sales on visits to important clients or prospective clients (where "Station Manager" title may be beneficial to closing the deal)
  • Hiring decisions at station level (although Station Manager may require formal next-level approval)
  • Functional strategy decisions.
  • Functional operations decisions (incl. negotiations with external AFR/OFR/Inland logistics suppliers)
  • Setting performance targets.
  • Evaluating performance and targets achievement
  • Ensure adherence to Company policies.
  • Ensure effective customer service through a process-oriented approach that delivers reliable and consistent service.


Qualifications:

  • Good understanding of freight forwarding industry.
  • Knowledge of station level administrative matters.
  • Ability to take ownership and drive station solutions independently.
  • Proven track record in people management role (leadership, motivation and people skill)
  • Good communication skills.


Reporting lines

  • Station Manager role reports directly to the respective Head of Region.
