Senior Scientist

Job Responsibilities

• Scientist role is responsible to develop, synthesize, analyze, and test new materials and formulations towards WACKER's goals within a global team environment.
• Scientist will advance state-of-the-art materials and formulations, generating fundamental knowledge to solve technical challenges.
• Independently contribute to interdisciplinary R&D projects for the target markets, demonstrating advanced knowledge and introducing innovative solutions.
• Drive technology development and implementation areas, demonstrating project planning and management skills.
• Maintain familiarity with current literature and advances in relevant fields.
• Accurately records, analyzes, interprets, and reports experimental data to stakeholders.
• Actively participate in WACKER safety programs, ensure compliance with safety procedures, and maintain good housekeeping
• Provides guidance and support to less experienced team members.
• Demonstrates excellent communication skills with presentations to internal technical colleagues, including R&D, Business Teams, and Production.
• Contribute to a creative R&D environment, including ideation and innovation discussions, leading to a robust project pipeline.

Job Qualifications

• Minimum M.S. in Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related discipline required, Ph.D. preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years of relevant industrial work experience is required
• Synthesis experience in an industrial, academic, or government research lab required. Elastomer experience preferred.
• Experience of characterization of chemical compounds via analytical techniques such as NMR, IR, GC, DSC, DMA, TGA, rheology, etc.
• Experience mentoring colleagues in an industrial setting
• Proven expertise in field supported by technical publications and presentations.
• Able to review and interpret scientific and patent literature; contribute to internal WACKER IP generation.
• Considerable knowledge of laboratory safety policies and practices
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
• Knowledge of silicone chemistry is preferred
• Strong oral and written communication skills required.
• Ability to creatively problem solve and lead investigations is required.
