Dimondale is a California 501(c) Public Benefit Organization that operates the Dimondale Adolescent Care Facilities in Southern California, providing residential services to youth that are at risk of or have experienced neglect, abuse, school failure, juvenile delinquency, and mental health disorders or all the above.

Salary Range for Associates: From $67,000 

 

Position Description:

The Therapist will be responsible for providing direct services to individuals in crisis, working with them through the process of accessing services and resources needed. The Therapist will also be responsible for assisting with intake assessment, document management, and other duties as assigned. The position requires a high level of attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Experience working in a high crisis setting is preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide crisis intervention services to individuals in crisis.
  • Provides crisis intervention, intake assessment, and individual, family, and group therapy to adolescents with a history of mental illness as needed.
  • Conduct solution focused consultations: helping clients define goals, plan action and gain insight.
  • Assess and refer to appropriate programs and services including but not limited to anger management, behavioral health, substance abuse / chemical dependency and community‐ based resources.
  • Assist with referrals for clients needing ongoing/additional counseling services.
  • Collaborate with client team and/or providers to ensure the safety of client, continuation of treatment, etc.)
  • Provide consultation services on a variety of client issues such as: anger management, trauma, and individual crisis intervention.
  • Provide crisis intervention and management support in response to Critical Incidents
  • Other duties as assigned by the Mental Health Department
  • Required to provide immediate clinical feedback in the event of a crisis or clinical emergency.
  • Provides and facilitates solution focused therapy.
  • Completes resident psychosocial assessments and provides diagnoses formulates a plan of treatment which promotes development and maintenance of individual goals designed to facilitate individual growth, improved social interaction, ability to manage mental illness and live independently. (If applicable)
  • Monitors and maintains documentation of the resident’s services within the resident’s charts, ensuring compliance with the Agencies policies and procedures.
  • Develops and maintains therapist skills through seminars, workshops, or other forms of training/education related to working with adolescents with a history of mental illness.
  • Attends and participates in program, Agency staff meetings: and related community agency meetings as required/requested.
  • Arrives to weekly individual/group supervision prepared with cases to discuss and ready to receive feedback and direction from the supervisor.
  • The employee will act as a representative Dimondale Adolescent in all of their interaction with DMH, LA County Probation, and DCFS.
  • Annually complete 40 hours of required content area training for CCL, CARF, DCFS, Probation, and DMH.
  • Must be employed for 40 hours a week and available for on call hours.

Requirements:

Must possess a Master’s degree in Social Work or Marriage and Family Therapy and be registered with their state licensing board as an associate throughout their volunteer time.

  • Associates will be provided with weekly supervision by a licensed LCSW or LMFT in accordance with state requirements.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be available to work evenings.
  • Must be available to provide crisis intervention as needed.
  • Must demonstrate an ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Must possess a valid California driver’s license and the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle and be insurable by Dimondale's insurance carrier.
  • Must pass Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), and Child Abuse Index Check (CAIC) background clearance.
  • Must display effective communication skills, ability to adapt to various demands of clients, must show ability to demonstrate dependability, willingness to show initiative in carrying out responsibilities.
