Strom Minnesota is currently looking for a Manufacturing Process Engineer for our client in Hopkins, MN. This is a hands-on Engineering position that does require some electrical skills and working knowledge of PLC’s. Summary Evaluates existing processes to improve safety, quality, on-time customer delivery and efficiency of operations while reducing manufacturing costs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Develops, evaluates and improves manufacturing methods. Improve safety and function of equipment through the use of programmable logic controllers. Assists in the development and implementation of new manufacturing processes and products. Oversees installation to ensure machines and equipment are installed and functioning according to specifications. Improves equipment safety through ergonomic improvements, machine guarding, and safe work practices. Collaborates with Production Department to provide a high quality product delivered to the customer on-time. Continues implementation of Lean Manufacturing practices, such as 5-S, value stream mapping, poke yoke (defect prevention), continuous improvement, visual management, and other Lean tools to improve worker efficiency and reduce waste of materials and utilities. Confers with management, engineering, production and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes. Documents critical processes and procedures. Confers with appropriate personnel to implement operating procedures and resolve system malfunctions. Oversees equipment installation and fabrication.
