POSITION/TITLE: Driver/EDS Facility Worker (Full-Time)

HOURLY RATE: $18/hr

LOCATION/DEPT: North & Central Illinois Division / Emergency Disaster Services

REPORTS TO: Warehouse/Finance Coordinator

Responsible for general housekeeping, warehouse/yard work, and assistance with canteen service. Drives truck for pickup and deliveries, works in warehouse preparing for receiving and delivery of product.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Maintain cleanliness per established housekeeping schedule and upkeep of the facility, inside and out, including lawn mowing, tree/shrubbery trimming, and snow removal.
    1. Assist with monitoring warehouse property and systems.
    2. Recharge all forklifts and power jacks along with warehouse worker.
    3. Participate in the schedule for general facility cleaning.
    4. Maintain all facility floors, including bay areas, in conjunction with warehouse worker.
    5. Participate in the preventative maintenance plan for facility as necessary.
  2. Drive truck for pickup and delivery of product as scheduled
  3. Assist with maintaining warehouse contents on the west side of the warehouse in an organized manner to ensure safety and security of the contents.
    1. Follow established procedures for storage/access of warehouse contents.
    2. Participate in organizing the warehouse contents and incoming product for easy access.
    3. Participate in maintaining an updated Inventory of contents.
    4. Participate in scheduling delivery and/or receipt of all product at the EDS facility.
    5. Palletize and shrink-wrap all warehouse product as necessary
  4. Assist with the day-to-day EDS facility activities, including corps food pantry program.
  5. Christmas Food Box Project and Flood Kit preparation.
    1. Assist with managing the holiday food box and/or flood kit production line.
    2. Assist with managing volunteers participating in warehouse activities.
    3. Participate in the delivery of all holiday food boxes to Salvation Army Corps & Community Centers.
  6. Provide assistance, on a pre-arranged basis, to other DHQ/THQ department areas as requested.
  7. Keep the Assistant Director aware of any issues or concerns related to the operation of the facility.
  8. After-hour backup call outs
    1. Provide call out response back up during the day if necessary.
    2. Participate in a backup schedule responding to after-hour canteen call outs when no volunteers are available.
  9. Scheduled special events
    1. Participate in scheduled special duties as approved by the EDS director.
    2. Assist with regularly scheduled training program at EDS headquarters.
  10. Deployment of Divisional Incident Command System
    1. Upon the activation of the Incident Command System, assist with logistics operations within the Incident Command System.
    2. Supervise additional volunteers assigned to this function.
    3. Manage expanded logistics and communication as assigned.
    4. Assist in special duty coordination.

EDUCATION

  • A high school diploma or equivalent experience
  • Certified fork-lift operator or willingness to be trained
  • Class C or CDL license or willingness to secure within first two months of employment2 to 5 years' experience in maintaining properties or related experience

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position is required to do physical work. In order to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to lift and/or move product up to 100 lbs; drive a truck and other EDS vehicles; operate a fork lift and similar warehouse equipment; sit for lengthy periods of time; use hands to handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is required to walk, stoop, kneel or crouch and frequently required to reach with and use arms and hands, as required in using facility tools and equipment, as well as standard office equipment and a PC. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to focus. The work environment for this position includes an office and warehouse environment with an average noise level and varying seasonal temperatures.
