Job Description
PURPOSE: Provides technical support, creates new programs to be reviewed by PLC programmers and technicians. The PLC Technician will also test and debug source code, provide onsite technical support and field service for customers.
JOB DESCRIPTION (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES):
- Assist more senior programmers with writing and debugging effective and safe control programs that meet the requirements of the end user and the expectations of Tennessee Rand.
- Maintain the quality of equipment shipped.
- Follow Tennessee Rand Build Standards and Tennessee Rand Technical Guidelines, including deviation lists that may be provided to allow for customer specifications or requirements.
- Assist programmers with control programming of equipment and tooling ensuring completeness, safety, and functionality.
- Train under the guidance and direction of PLC and Senior PLC programmers and provide them with support.
- Meet requirements for internal runoffs, safety inspections, and other quality control procedures.
- Clear communications with project management staff and supervisors on issues that may come up.
- Troubleshoot and manipulate PLC and HMI code that has already been written.
- Design effective and detailed HMI screens that are neatly arranged for ease in understanding by end user operators and technical staff.
- Debugging of electrical systems as needed for operation of all machines.
- Communicating with robot programmers on what is needed from them to make a project run smoothly.
- Travel 40%+ including overnight.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechatronics, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent. An Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent with experience will be considered
- Excellent communications skills
- Basic C, C++ or Java programming skills
- PC based computer skills
- Experience with Motoman, Fanuc, Panasonic, and/or ABB programming structure.\
- Basic understanding of system electrical prints
- Electrical debug skills
