Peoria's Water Services Department has an excellent opportunity for an Environmental Compliance Inspector within the Environmental Resources Division. This position will be assigned to the Program Enforcement Division, primarily working in the Fats, Oils and Grease (FOG) program. The purpose of this position is to ensure compliance with City, State and Federal Wastewater and Pretreatment regulations. This position may also assist in the preparation of correction notices and annual reports, investigation of customer complaints, public education and outreach, as well as utilizing database-tracking software. Other duties may include completing related tasks as assigned.

The ideal candidate for this position will have:
- Conducted inspections of commercial establishments: inspected pretreatment and waste control devices/processes
- Experience in a Municipal/Government setting
- A strong customer service background
- Excellent communication skills
- Knowledge of Federal, State, and Local regulations for water and wastewater
- One (1) Grade I ADEQ Wastewater operator certification and/or One (1) Grade I Water operator certification
This is a Fixed-Term (Contract) position that is eligible for benefits

Minimum Requirements:
- Education: High school plus additional course work (equivalent to up to 1 year at a Community College or equivalent resulting in accumulation of similar knowledge and abilities).
- Experience: 1 year experience environmental compliance field. Moderate previous experience required in the same or similar previous positions; can include relevant experience gained through formal internships and training programs.
- Physical Demands: Work requires heavy physical exertion and effort. Forces exerted are equivalent to lifting between 25 and 50 pounds. The need for physical stamina and endurance is great.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester Certification required within 6 months of hire.
- One (1) Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) Grade I operator certification within one year of hire.
- Valid Arizona Class "D" Driver's License upon hire.
