Job purpose

Responsible for operation, routine maintenance, roller changes of Heidelberg XL-106 with Coater. The Lead would also be responsible for the Second Man on the team for the press crew.

Duties and responsibilities

• Operate Heidelberg printing press to produce either folding carton products and/or commercial print.

• Make sure proper plates are loaded on press for next job to print.

• Ink the press, load paper, and adjust the press to the paper size and white point while confirming the proper material for each job with Production Manager and cross-checking to the Job Ticket.

• Assist Second Man as necessary with any issues to ensure efficiency during production.

• Use either Heidelberg’s In-Press or Axis color management software tools to monitor L*a*b*’s, delta E, delta E possible, dot gains, etc., on a job-by-job basis in accordance with any customer or LTi direction.

• Continually monitor press sheets with frequent time stamp pulls at console to monitor print quality.

• Accurately log in and out of jobs on press computer.

• Accurately record all job functions in shop floor data collection in real-time on press.

• Monitor chemistry, clean water tanks as necessary, follow daily, weekly, monthly, bi-annual as well as annual prescribed Heidelberg maintenance guidelines.

• Perform or assist in preventive maintenance or repairs and work with Heidelberg technicians or LTi’s Maintenance in maintenance and repairs.

• Completes quality control procedures and required QA documents.

• Provides direction, training and guidance to junior crew members.

• Follow all company MIOSHA safety regulations and encourages safe work habits from other crewmembers. Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Must have previous press operator experience.

• Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

• Must have basic computer skills.

• Must have the ability to perform basic arithmetic.

• Must be able to communicate effectively with other employees and management.

• Must be able to maintain good attendance.

• Must be willing to work overtime as needed.

• Must be able to perform all essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Must be flexible to work 1st or 2nd shift.

Physical requirements

Physical ability and stamina sufficient to maintain continuous physical effort throughout shift, including frequent lifting, standing, stooping, bending, reaching and twisting. Physical strength and ability sufficient to perform manual labor for extended periods of time. Manual labor is defined as exerting force sufficient to lift to 50 lbs.
