Print Bindery - Small Machine Operator

POSITION: Small Machine Operator
REPORTS TO: Director of Operations
FLSA: Non Exempt

Position Objective
To finish work in progress in order to meet customer needs in a timely manner, as well as coordinate and inspect work in the bindery area to ensure customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize work orders with Director of Operations based on importance, need of labor and time frame.
• Assign work orders to each finishing process in the bindery area to ensure all work is done in specified time frames.
• Set up and operate multiple pieces of finishing equipment required to finish and complete the order.
• Check the quality of incoming orders, making sure all orders will be completed in assigned order.
• Perform quality control checks on all completed materials in order to increase customer satisfaction.
• Conduct weekly/monthly label inspection of chemicals used in Printing Department.
• Assist printers with any issues that may arise with the quality of work and performance of machinery.
• Finish orders following the information and specifics listed on the work order with an emphasis on accuracy/quality.
• Measure stock and cut it appropriately for the specific work order.
• Conduct weekly maintenance on machinery, reporting any issues or problems to appropriate supervisor.
• Maintain an organized and clean work area in order to efficiently produce materials.
• Take inventory of materials for the week and month as needed.
• Continually learn new processes to increase efficiency as well as maintaining proficiency in operation of all current equipment, including but not limited to all binding and finishing equipment.
• Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of products.
• Clean finishing equipment on a weekly basis in order to maintain the efficiency of the machine.
• Assist in various departments as needed in order to meet daily business needs.
• Perform all related duties as assigned by the Director of Operations.

Working Environment/Equipment Used

• Work is done in the warehouse area, dress appropriate for climate
• Daily functions require use of several pieces of equipment including but not limited to: Cutter, folder,
• booklet maker, collator, scoring-perfing-numbering machine, paper punch, spiral binder, shrink wrapper.
• Job involves climbing on ladders to reach higher shelf levels.
• Job involves moderate lifting.  Job involves order picking for redemption orders.
• Contact with and use of inks and cleaning chemicals is required.

Qualifications/Attributes

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in printing.
• Detail Oriented with sufficient organizational skills.
• Quality and results driven.
