Job Summary and Qualifications

Our Registered Nurses raise the bar by providing clinical expertise and the highest quality care in the most compassionate way. Perioperative RNs assess, plan and implement the nursing care plan for the patient throughout the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative periods. We are seeking an OR Charge Registered Nurse. You will provide clinical expertise to ensure all patients receive high quality, efficient care in a surgical environment. Charge RN (Board Runner): Monday-Friday, running the board (Hours: 2pm-10pm) *No Weekends, No Holidays, No Call Requirements*


What you will do in this role:
  • You will create and maintain a sterile and safe surgical environment.
  • You will provide direct nursing care and supervise non-licensed nursing staff within the RN’s scope of practice and in accordance with established policies.
  • Surgical Schedule Management:
    • Coordinate and manage the surgical schedule, ensuring timely and efficient utilization of operating rooms.
    • Liaise with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other medical staff to schedule surgeries, prioritize urgent cases, and accommodate necessary changes.
    • Maintain accurate records of surgery schedules, including patient information, procedures, and any special requirements.
    • Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure the operating room is set up according to the specific surgical requirements.
  • Patient Coordination and Support:
    • Assist in preparing patients for surgery, addressing their queries, and ensuring they understand pre-operative instructions.
    • Provide support to patients and their families, offering reassurance and guidance throughout the pre-operative process.
  • Communication and Collaboration:
    • Act as liaison between different departments, communicating effectively to ensure a cohesive workflow between surgery, pre-op, post-op, and other related units.
    • Collaborate with administrative staff to manage paperwork, consent forms, and patient documentation accurately.
  • Emergency Response and Problem-Solving:
    • Respond promptly to emergencies or changes in the surgical schedule, reallocating resources and adapting plans accordingly.
    • Resolve logistical issues or conflicts during surgical procedures to maintain efficiency.


Requirements:

  • Must be licensed as a Florida Registered Nurse in accordance with state regulations or appropriate compact licensure. If compact license held, active FL RN license required within 60 days of hire.
  • Nursing Diploma or ASN required; BSN Preferred
  • American Heart Association BLS
  • ACLS required within 6 months of hire of transfer
  • Minimum 1 year RN experience in acute care setting preferred
  • Minimum 1 year OR experience is required
  • Critical thinking, service excellent and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, ability to follow verbal instructions, PC skills
