Symetra has an exciting new opportunity to join our organization as an Associate Quantitative Derivatives Analyst!

About the role

Symetra Investment Management (SIM) was established in 2019 and is a subsidiary of Symetra who is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sumitomo Life of Japan. SIM enables Sumitomo to invest in the U.S. markets and to expand in-house asset management capabilities. SIM is also an SEC-registered investment advisor providing third party investment management to institutional clients.

The Associate Quantitative Derivatives Analyst will be supporting Strategists/Quantitative developers/Traders to construct quantitative derivative pricing models and trading analytics for derivatives front office use by using their financial engineering background and software development skills.

This position is a hybrid role.

What you'll do

  • Help develop, implement, and test cross asset derivatives pricing models using risk-neutral pricing methodologies - both vanilla and exotic derivatives across Equities/Rates/Credit
  • Using software development expertise code, design, implement and maintain technology solutions including the design and implementation of MS SQL databases that permit the design of analytics to satisfy needs in trading, attribution, risk analysis, collateral management, and management reporting
  • Help the senior traders on a day-to-day basis with the trading process and execution

Compensation

Salary Range: $91,200 - $151,900 plus eligibility for the company annual bonus program.

Who you are

  • B.S. degree in a quantitative discipline, such as computer science, mathematics, engineering, or operations research with exceptional programming skills.

  • 0-5 years of experience in derivatives financial engineering and software programming: C#, Python, SQL, VBA, Power BI. Experience could be obtained through coursework (e.g. CQF etc.)

  • 0-5 years of experience with a mix of software engineering and financial derivatives model development, including financial market data processing and corresponding analytics/reporting design and data visualization experience.

  • A "get it done" work ethic that supports the completion of tasks within specified timeframes
  • The ability to adjust to shifting priorities as business conditions warrant, understanding that the work requirements of the position will sometimes embed inflexible deadlines
  • The ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a team environment and communicate ideas effectively
