Position: Surgical Technologist

Job Description:

As a Scrub Tech, you will play a crucial role in the operating room by assisting surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals during surgical procedures. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that the surgical environment is prepared and organized, and to provide sterile instruments and supplies to the surgical team during procedures. Sterile processing of instruments is also a key role for this position.

Responsibilities:

1. Prepare the operating room: Set up sterile surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies required for each procedure, following established protocols and ensuring proper sterilization.

2. Assist in patient preparation: Help position and drape patients to ensure a sterile field, while maintaining patient comfort and privacy.

3. Anticipate surgical needs: Anticipate the needs of the surgical team by providing instruments, supplies, and equipment promptly and efficiently during procedures.

4. Maintain sterile field: Follow strict aseptic techniques to establish and maintain a sterile field throughout the surgical procedure, ensuring the integrity of the surgical site.

5. Collaborate with the surgical team: Work closely with surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to facilitate a safe and efficient surgical environment.

6. Monitor and manage surgical inventory: Keep track of surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels and proper maintenance.

7. Follow safety protocols: Adhere to all safety guidelines and infection control practices, maintaining a clean and safe working environment.

8. Assist with patient transportation: Help transport patients to and from the operating room, ensuring their safety and comfort.

Requirements:

- High school diploma or equivalent.

- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program.

- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) is preferred.

- Knowledge of surgical instruments, equipment, and aseptic techniques.

- Strong attention to detail and ability to work well under pressure.

- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift/move patients or equipment as required.
