DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is responsible for installing, testing, inspecting, maintaining, repairing,troubleshooting, assembling, and/or dismantling inside/outside communications equipment, parts, and related items. Headquarter location, travel and work within assigned geographic area.

INSTALL, TEST AND MAINTAIN:

  • Fiber optics, cables, towers, antenna work, power plant, and microwave/radio sites

  • Termination of overhead/underground cabling and fiber

  • Tower work, including tower erection, rigging, installation and maintenance

OPERATE TRUCKS/EQUIPMENT:

  • Operate motor trucks, tractors, trenchers, digging machines, hole digging machines, and other equipment and machines used on or off track to perform Telecom work

SHIFTS/HOURS

  • Full-time - 6 days a week (5 regular working days and one on-call day)

  • Subject toon-call,overtime, alternate shifts, nights, weekends, holidays

  • Shift assignments are governed by union agreement, typically based on seniority

TRAVEL

  • Moderate

  • Headquartered location with travel around the seniority (designated) region and remain away from home for up to days or weeks at a time

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 21 years of age or older

  • Ability to report for duty at the designated work location

  • Able to work safely in the above working conditions

  • Able to work the above shift/hours

  • Able to meet the above travel requirements

  • Able to read, write and communicate (speak, hear and understand) English

  • Able to lift and carryunassistedup to60pounds

  • Possessa valid ClassACommercial Driver's License (CDL), or be able to obtain one within240days of employment

  • Able to visually distinguish among red, blue, green and yellow colors

  • Ability to discriminate and differentiate between verbal and non-verbal sounds (signals, alarms, etc.) in the work environment.

  • Able to use handsand hand toolsto perform activities involving holding, grasping, turning and pulling

  • Able to perform work on uneven surfaces,climb ladders and on/off equipment

  • Able to occasionallywork from a boom truck basket

  • Able to bend, walk, stand and sitoccasionally with breaks

  • Follow safety policies and procedures and wear the required personal protective equipment required for the job in a safe manner

  • Able to occasionally climb and perform work on tower structures in excess of 50 feet
