Regional Structures Engineer

Ames Construction, Inc., a local Heavy Civil and Heavy Highway Contractor based in Phoenix Arizona, is currently seeking a Regional Structures Engineer to assist our Regional Structures Manager on multiple projects ranging from 10M to 100M.

Qualified applicants must have a minimum of 8 years experience in heavy civil construction engineering with knowledge of Earthwork, Pipe, with a primary focus on Concrete as well as processing submittals, RFIs, change orders, owner/sub correspondence, quality tracking, and safety requirements. Candidate must be detail-oriented and have excellent communication skills. The position requires a 4-year degree in Civil Engineering/Construction Management.

Job Requirements

  • 8+ years of AUTOCAD experience with the ability to produce falsework, formwork, and concrete layout drawings.
  • Significant background with extensive knowledge of structural specifications, their application, and interpretation.
  • Experience and ability to do concrete and rebar takeoffs.
  • Self-starter with outstanding work ethic - the ability to understand structural drawings, form systems, and sequence of construction.
  • Experience in completing cost tracking, manhour reports, invoice coding, and approvals.
  • Ability to control and track inventory and resource projects.
  • P6 Scheduling experience and ability to analyze project schedules.
  • Ability to generate design RFI's, and complete project submittals.
  • Prior experience assisting with estimates and post-project analysis, with the ability to bring ideas and experience to help develop project estimates and production rates.
  • Experience ordering and tracking project-specific permanent materials.
  • The position will require OSHA 30, MSHA certification.
  • Knowledge of Primavera, HCSS and Microsoft Word, and Excel desired
  • Regional travel may be required.
