JOB DESCRIPTION: Seasonal Spring Grove Grounds Mowing Crew
Classification: Non-Exempt
Hourly: $16.75/HR
Summary/Objective
The position of the Seasonal Spring Grove Grounds Mowing Crew is established to perform support and assistance to the grounds team activities at Spring Grove.
Essential Functions

· Communication both verbal and written
· Interface with customers in-person
· Operate grounds equipment
· Maintenance of grounds areas
Primary Duties:
Mowing and String Trimming – Spring Grove
· Mow all turf and ground cover
· Perform string trimming function including vertical edging of markers and curbs
Landscape/Horticultural – Spring Grove
· Perform installation of plant materials
· Prune, weed, mulch and irrigate
· Perform follow-up maintenance on installations
· Make flower placements and removals in the grounds
· Install and maintain floral displays
Growth Regulator/Chemical Applications – Spring Grove
· Apply growth regulators on ground cover and around markers
· Apply fungicide, insecticide and herbicide correctly and safely
· Apply fertilization
· Responsible for lake management
· Clean monuments
General Maintenance – Spring Grove
· Perform the policing of the grounds for trash and general clean up, including catch basins
· Perform painting functions
· Responsible for general cleanup of equipment
· Responsible for cleanup and maintenance on buildings
· Perform the leaf blowing function
· Perform snow removal tasks as required
· Certain positions will require working at different heights, on ladders and lifts
Foundation and Marker Setting – Spring Grove
· Excavate sites
· Pour foundations
· Set markers
· Raise sunken markers
· Perform the follow up sodding function
Turf – Spring Grove
· Perform general maintenance on the turf such as: Sodding, seeding, trenching,
fertilization and irrigation
· Maintain the irrigation lines
Interment/Entombment – Spring Grove
· Understand and perform customer rapport, able to meet/greet services
· Understand and execute the opening and closing process for grounds, lawn crypts,
mausoleum and niches
· Able to prepare burial sites
· Able to establish final grade of all burial sites including filling and pounding

Work Environment
This position operates outdoors in all weather conditions. The work can be repetitive and physically demanding, requiring frequent bending, kneeling, lifting, and reaching.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk and/or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit; stand; walk; bending; kneeling; lifting; and reaching with hands and arms. Required to lift up to 50 pounds.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a seasonal temporary Non-Exempt position. Business hours of work are:
Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with some weekend work. The position will work one Saturday per month on the internment team.
Travel
Local travel may be required between campuses for support.
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Experience
1. Experience, preferably in grounds maintenance, green industry, or construction.
2. Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
3. Must have the ability to work independently and have good problem-solving skills.
4. Displays a “Customer First” attitude.
