The ELECTRON OPTICS ANALYST role will be based at the Howmet Research Center, located in Whitehall, MI. The position's basic responsibilities include;

  1. Perform routine operation of scanning electron microscopy and related equipment in support of product and process qualification.
  2. Work as part of a diverse team of Engineers and Scientist providing microstructural analysis, high temperature alloy characterization, and failure analysis support to Howmet facilities globally.
  3. Continued learning and development of expertise in scanning electron microscopy and industry trends.
  4. Develop and perform materials analyses and preparation methodologies in response to new business challenges or needs.
  5. Oversee and coordinate electron optics equipment maintenance and repair.

, Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • B.S. Degree in a STEM field from an accredited institution.
  • Ability to operate metallographic preparation and analysis equipment, including saws, mounting presses, polishers and microscopes.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of hands-on electron optics experience.
  • Experience with sample preparation and microstructural evaluation of high temperature or light weight alloys.
  • Experience with investment casting, forging, coating or heat treatment production processes.
