About this job
Core faculty of Internal Medicine must devote sufficient time to the educational program to fulfill their supervisory and teaching responsibilities and demonstrate a strong interest in the education of residents.
- They will administer and maintain an educational environment conducive to educating residents in each of the ACGME competency areas; provide advising for residents in the areas of educational goalsetting, career planning, patient care, and scholarship; and, meet professional standards of behavior.
- Assist with teaching, research and service activities as they relate to the Magnolia Regional Health Center Graduate Medical Education Department and Magnolia Regional Community Care Clinic (If applicable).
- Provide high quality, cost effective, Internal Medicine and Critical Care services (within the scope of hospitalist privileges) to non-obstetrical patients 18 years of age and older.
- Facilitate (in coordination with residents, students, fellows, patient, patients family, primary care provider, hospital case management, and/or nursing homes and third party payors, as applicable) all aspects of inpatient care and discharge planning needs.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Graduate of an Accredited Medical School
- Graduate of an Accredited Internal Medicine Program
- Current ABIM Board Certification or AOBIM awaiting ABIM
- MRHC Medical Staff Appointment
- Possess a full and unrestricted State of Mississippi Licensure
- Maintenance of ACLS certification and CME accreditation as required by the hospital staff and state licensure boards
- Procedural competency in performance of central/arterial line placement, thoracentesis, lumbar puncture and endotracheal intubation, and basic ventilator management skills
- Persuasive clinical leadership abilities
- Fundamental knowledge of PC based applications
- Ability to work within a team structure, including supervision of residents and medical students
