Job Description
Reporting Relationship
Reports to the Plant Manager
Core Function
This is not a CNC operator role - it is a hands on role using lathes, manual milling machines, surface grinders, welding machine, EDM machine.
The Mold Maker is responsible for the coordination, maintenance, and repair of plastic injection molds by executing the following duties:
Responsibilities
§ Troubleshoots issues with injection molds
§ Collaborates with production teams for the preparation of installation of molds
§ Repairs, and advises on the repair of, injection molds
§ Develops and implement corrective and preventative actions
§ Makes fixture details
§ Communicates with outside vendors when outsourcing
§ Works with various departments to implement customer concerns
§ Ensures safety and housekeeping standards are maintained
§ Follows the safety rules, report safety problems and all injuries, regardless of severity. Ensure plant safety and 5S housekeeping standards are maintained.
§ Coordinates with vendors to collect the compliance requirements.
Education Requirements
High School Diploma or General Education Diploma; and 2-Year Degree from an accredited technical college; could be substituted for experience
Training Requirements
Received training from an accredited 2-year Technical College; could be substituted for experience
Experience Requirements
This position requires at least 4 years of experience as a bench mold maker, preferably 5 or more years, supporting a full-service tooling department - it is not a CNC Operator role, but a hands on mold repair and maintenance role
Skills Requirements
This position requires the following skills: mold assessment, mold cleaning, mold repairs, mold set-up, and forklift driving (stand-up)
