Unlike the conventional health-club setting, The Exercise Coach® is very professional and distraction-free; offering clients what would be more accurately described as clinical exercise, rather than the latest fitness craze in a crowded, intimidating environment.

The Exercise Coach® is dedicated to helping women and men of all ages achieve their health and fitness goals through customized physical conditioning programs and the use of our proprietary technology.

Seeking a Personal Trainer or Physical Therapy Technician, preferably with a degree in Exercise Science or Kinesiology interested in working as an Exercise Coach (Personal Trainer) in a fun, team-based environment where we work with clients 1-on-1 to transform their health and fitness in only 20 minutes, twice a week.

We are a PART-TIME Coach who should have availability to work mornings (6a-noon); or evenings (3p-8p)…AND Saturdays (7a-1p). As a reference, our standard business hours are Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Our PART-TIME Coaches typically will work the morning or afternoon/evening shift, with rotating Saturdays. (Depending on business need, there may be a need for 2 Saturdays in a row from time to time, instead.)

Must currently live in the Greater Phoenix Area, preferably in or near the Gilbert area, or be comfortable commuting to Gilbert. A university degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology or related field is preferred, along with at least 2 years of personal training and/or physical therapy technician experience.

Responsibilities and Duties

· Develop Comprehensive Health & Fitness Programs for Clients: You'll receive coaching and training on our fitness system, and you'll have to incorporate knowledge into safe, effective exercise programming.

· Tracking Client Progress: In order to ensure a client's success in our programs, you'll need to track weekly progress, current successes and challenges, review client nutrition and exercise log worksheets and more on a weekly basis. It will be your job to hold a client accountable to his/her health and fitness program to ensure the best possible results.

· Perform Fitness Evaluations: Ideally, you'll have some fitness assessment skills and can conduct body composition evaluations, bodyweight and girth measurements, blood pressure and heart rate, and various physical performance tests. You do not need previous experience, but if you do, that's a bonus. You will be trained on how to use our proprietary technology and other resources to perform required tests, and also how to interpret and present the results to clients.

· Coach clients through program duration: You'll be responsible for weekly exercise sessions and keeping detailed notes on the clients you're working with. If a client is having challenges throughout his/her program, you'll coach and motivate the client and make appropriate changes to ensure consistent progress.

· Demonstrate Proper Exercise Instruction: We need you to be able to provide proper instruction during a client training session. You should have a working knowledge of the human body (i.e. muscles, movements, functions, etc.) and be able to provide appropriate exercises for client's needs, goals and limitations, and demonstrate, if necessary.

· Provide Ongoing Health and Fitness Education: Our clients rely on us to service all their health and fitness needs. It is your job as a fitness coach to provide our clients with health and fitness education on various topics that will empower them to lead healthy lives forever. You'll be provided with educational tools and resources, will be expected to study them, and speak about them with your clients. We also spend time covering this in our studio staff meetings.

· Lead Follow Up and Conduct Consultations: Responding to leads in an effective and timely manner is very important to any successful personal training studio. While we like to think we don't "sell" prospects on our services, you will be required to follow up with leads by phone, email, and/or text and schedule them for a free fitness consultation and trial sessions. This process is well-defined and you will be trained on how to successfully handle this task. However, you must be comfortable on the phone and presenting pricing information to prospective clients, in addition to proposing renewal opportunities to existing clients.

· Studio Maintenance: A clean, organized, and safe Studio is very important to our clients and to our team. You will contribute to and oversee the maintenance of a clean and well-organized studio and notify the Lead Coach (Studio Manager) of any required repairs.

 

Qualifications and Skills

Required Skills:

  • Passion for Health & Fitness: This is where it all begins!
  • Strong Communication Skills: You must be comfortable conversing in-person and on the phone and know how to conduct yourself professionally and deliver clear instructions to the clients. You must also be a master at assessing, managing, prioritizing and communicating all daily activities in the studio through a variety of tools such as email, online message boards, communication logs and meetings.
  • People skills and personality: You must LOVE working with people and helping them achieve their goals! This is an exciting studio and you must be able to show your clients energy and excitement while working with them. You must also be able to maintain & demonstrate a professional, positive, and friendly attitude always.
  • Strong organizational skills: Attention to detail matters
  • Certification: MUST be willing to successfully complete The Exercise Coach Certifications within 30 days of hire. (Candidate will be compensated for time to complete certification).
  • CPR/AED Certification: Must possess current certification or be willing to obtain CPR/AED certification from nationally-recognized provider within 30 days of hire.
  • Brand Loyalty and Proactive Sales: Demonstrate the value of our brand by actively participating in our fitness program and selling/marketing our program to clients or prospective clients. In addition, Coaches will execute the following sales responsibilities:
    • Present, promote and sell The Exercise Coach products/services using consultative conversations, and persuasive reasoning to existing and prospective clients.
    • Reaching out to potential leads through a variety of channels, such as email, phone, text, and social media.
    • Perform needs analysis of prospective and current clients to meet their needs, both current and ongoing.
    • Establish, develop and maintain positive client and business relationships.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of muscle function/physiology and nutrition
  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology or related field.
  • Personal Training or Physical Therapy Technician experience
  • Experience with various strength training applications
  • Ability to take initiative and be a self-starter
  • Ability and desire to sell personal training and nutrition services to new clients and to renew services to existing clients
