Comprehensive Sleep Solutions & Diagnostic Center is a company in Southfield, MI 48034.
We are looking for an Medical Office Specialist/Assistant Medical Biller in our office in Southfield. Must be detailed oriented, strong computer skills, 2 yrs experience in healthcare billing preferred but not required. Position includes status claims, working claim denials, correcting claim denials, EOB posting/posting claims, mailing in proof of timely filing to insurance companies when needed, getting prior authorization to correct claim denials if needed, A/R reduction, and other tasks as assigned.
DUTIES:
- Status claims
- Processing claims to get paid by working with insurance companies, healthcare providers, and patients.
- Reviewing and appealing unpaid and denied claims
- Handling collections on unpaid accounts
- Post Payments
- Managing the facility's Accounts Receivable reports
- Answering patients billing questions
- Greets patients and visitors in a courteous and friendly manner.
- Screen calls, arranges appointments and referrals.
- Prepares new records, re-files, and maintains records.
- Type correspondence, reports, memos, and forms.
- Some transcription of medical notes.
- Verify insurance benefits and document on bottom of sheet
- Call patient to schedule sleep study, explain insurance benefits and
- deductible required.
- Contact referring physician via fax verification of scheduled sleep study.
- Enter appointment into computerized schedule and/or hard copy schedule.
- Mail patient packet and document on Patient Packet Sheet.
- For patients that have had a titration sleep study contact patient in 1 week after faxing information for pap equipment setup to ensure they received and to note any information to provide to Medical Director.
- Insurance Verification prior to scheduling patients for appointments.
- Schedule and order patient's PAP equipment and PAP supplies.
- Prepare the Sleep Rooms for the night or day sleep studies sanitizing and cleaning, prep and clean the restrooms and other light janitorial duties at the beginning of your shift.
- And other duties.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous medical receptionist experience or background in general office work preferred.
- Ability to comprehend established office routines and policies.
- Learns quickly from oral and written instructions.
- Ability to keep insurance records and performs mathematical tasks.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Understand the ethics of confidentiality.
- Good organization skills and good health.
- Tact and diplomacy.
- Previous public contact work.
- HIPAA Trained
- Sleep Clinic Experience Preferred but not required.
