Provide administrative support: The Veteran Disability Secretary will be responsible for providing administrative support to the organization's disability claims department. This may include scheduling appointments, answering phone calls and emails, and maintaining accurate records of disability claims.

Assist with paperwork: The secretary will be responsible for assisting Case Managers with completing paperwork related to their disability claims. This may include gathering information about the veteran's medical history, military service, and other relevant documentation.

Communicate with veterans: The secretary will be responsible for communicating with veterans and their families to provide updates on the status of their claims, answer questions, and provide guidance on the disability claims process.

Maintain confidentiality: The secretary will be responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of veterans' personal and medical information.

Stay up-to-date with regulations: The secretary will be responsible for staying up-to-date with changes to regulations and policies related to disability claims to ensure that claims are processed accurately and efficiently.

Other duties as assigned: The secretary may be responsible for other duties as assigned by their supervisor.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, an Associate's or Bachelor's degree may be preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with confidential information and maintain discretion.
  • Experience in an administrative support role, preferably in a medical or government setting.
  • Familiarity with disability claims processes and regulations is a plus.

  • Birmingham, AL 35243: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

 

Experience:

 

  • Customer service: 1 year (Preferred)
