Job Description

Position Summary:

Perform functions to direct, administer and execute research and development activities for new product designs to meet the needs of the market within the capabilities of our manufacturing environment and perform, direct and administer special projects. Must be an advocate and use principles of the Win strategy.

Essential Functions:

Responsible for special projects development. Accountable from start to completion of project goals, objectives and budgets to develop new and improved products. Responsible for achieving target costs for all components.

To be a technical consultant for component and system problems for internal and external customers. Must be able to effectively communicate with customers, sales/marketing and other divisional, group and corporate personnel to resolve technical matters dealing with projects.

Coordinate and communicate with material suppliers on new materials or processes applicable to new products.

Identify new product and market opportunities through various avenues such as outside consultants, trade shows and customer visits and industry surveys.

Align internal divisions and outside suppliers to ensure that support for Master timing, test and validation plans, prototype needs and budgetary constraints are agreed and met.

Serve as prime point of contact for customer interface and status on new products being developed for alternative markets.

Leads the project team to achieve its chartered purpose and desired outcomes.

Creates and tracks the master gantt for the entire program; ensures all deliverables and milestones are met per customer request.

Creates and tracks the open issues list for the entire program. Hold weekly and biweekly meetings as necessary.

Establishes supply chain. Ensures team participation and tracks to meet budgeted cost targets per plan.

Creates, establishes and ensures that the system and component validation test plans (DVP&R) are met and that the end product meets or exceeds customer expectations as outlined in customer value proposition.

Ensures that all supporting divisions meet their component and validation targets and dates per Win Strategy.

Manages the entire program per Win Strategy. Holds stage gate reviews per master time plan.

Ensures the project team is trained as required.

Encourages participation. Ensures that all concerned are appropriately involved. Creates a stable working environment. Clarifies the decision-making process and tracks action items to closure.

Plans and tracks the project team effort; achieves BETA milestones

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree (BS) in mechanical, electrical or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Individual should be highly organized with the ability to follow project through to completion.
- Previous experience with new product launches and new product commercialization.
- Knowledgeable in manufacturing process and a background in design
