ENGAGE IN OPERATIONS

    \n
  • Ensure that instrument maintenance and/or function checks are performed and documented.
  • \n
  • Troubleshoot instrument malfunctions and inform the Laboratory Supervisor, Manager or Director of problems.
  • \n
  • Review QC logs.
  • \n
  • Document and collaborate with leadership about errors, omissions or discrepancies in QC.
  • \n
  • Compile QA data and prepare reports for leadership.
  • \n
  • Monitor proficiency testing activity.
  • \n
  • Completes all assigned duties within the required time frame.
  • \n
  • Demonstrate awareness of appropriate inventory levels in all relevant sections of the laboratory to prevent supply shortages or overages.

  • Assist leaders in the observation and documentation of laboratory staff competency.

  • Help Laboratory leadership with staff scheduling.
  • \n
  • Purchase supplies to assist leadership.

TRAIN AND DEVELOP

  • Demonstrate awareness of changes in procedures and protocols in which new procedures are mastered within established time frames.
  • \n
  • Perform orientation and training assignments in an organized, thorough manner.
  • \n
  • Serve as a resource to peers by sharing knowledge of procedures or testing outcomes.
  • \n
  • Develop, perform, and evaluate special projects.
  • \n
  • Perform test evaluations and validations of new procedures and/or reagent systems.
  • \n
  • Create, author and revise procedures according to CLSI guidelines.
  • \n
  • Prepare and deliver student lectures and bench instruction.

Required

\n
    \n
  • Three years' experience as a Medical Technologist required, including two years' experience in the host laboratory preferred
  • \n
  • One years' experience in Histocompatibility in an ASHI accredited laboratory required. (only for Tissue Typing Laboratory)
  • \n
  • For NY locations/laboratories holding NY state licensures ONLY: Six years clinical lab experience required
  • \n
\n


Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
ASCP or equivalent certification in medical technology (MT) or categorical certification preferred. Certification as a Histocompatibility Technologist (CHT) by the American Board of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ABHI) required (only for Tissue Typing Laboratory). New York license required for NY locations.
