Description

Seeking experienced Neonatal or Acute Care Pediatric advanced practice provider to join our Ahuja community team in the NICU & newborn nursery.  Shifts are predominately 24 hours, with occasional 12-hr shifts.  Weekends, nights, and holidays are required. 

\n

The APP will assess, implement, and evaluate appropriate plan of care for patients. This includes diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, in accordance with the scope of practice of an APP and current standard of care.  The APP will manage care for a caseload of well newborns & neonates in the acute phase or transitioning home.  APP must be able to demonstrate competencies in Neonatal APP practice to provide age-appropriate care to neonates 32 weeks & greater. 

\n

Responsibilities include:

\n

·        Attendance at all high-risk labor and deliveries, including deliveries in any part of the hospital consistent with NRP algorithms

\n

·        Complete rounds on level I & II newborns by 11am

\n

·        Consult and manage sick newborns admitted under private pediatricians

\n

·        Prenatal consultations in collaboration with the Neonatologist at main campus

\n

·        Actively participates in the quality improvement process for maternal & neonatal care to contribute in the improvement of patient care.

\n

·        Expected to initiate and participate in education & research while remaining up to date on trends in case management.

\n

·        Attendance of OB and Pediatric Quality meetings required

\n

·        Participate and initiate Labor & Delivery and Mother-Baby staff education or training.  Including team and skills building through periodic mock codes organized by APP.

\n

·        Resident education in the care of newborns and delivery room roles

\n

·        Collaborate with other hospital departments in delivery of care to newborns, as appropriate

Qualifications

Education:
Master of Science in Nursing with specialization in neonates or acute care pediatrics.  Physician Assistant with fellowship training in NICU setting.

\n

License Requirements:
Current Ohio Nursing license.
Current Ohio APRN license.
Certified Neonatal Nurse Practitioner or Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with prescriptive authority.
Current Ohio PA license.

\n

Qualifications:

\n

·      Required Level III & IV NICU experience is required or equivalent experience and competency in caring for sick newborns & delivery room coverage.

\n

·         Demonstrated leadership skills.

\n

·        Demonstrated skills in interpersonal relationships.

\n

Skills:
•    Intubation, IV placement, PICC Line Placement, Lumbar Puncture, UAC/UVC placement
•    BLS and NRP provider certification
•    DEA license provided through the hospital
•    Strong clinical assessment and analytical skills
•    Self-directed professional with strong organizational skills
