Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized medical biller and coder to join our growing team. As a part of our billing and coding team you will review and accurately code consultations for reimbursement as well as account receivable processes.

Medical Billing and Coding Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receive and review patient charts and documents for completion and accuracy
  • Properly code all patient charts and submit to appropriate party for reimbursement in a timely manner
  • Update and maintain document lists
  • Ensure proper coding on provider documentation
  • Follow coding guidelines and legal requirements to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations
  • Posting payments and responding to first and second level rebuttals in a timely manner
  • Conduct collection calls on unpaid claims
  • Performs additional duties assigned by Department Manager as needed

Medical Billing and Coding Requirements and Qualifications

  • High school degree or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
  • Medical Coding Certificate; CPC or CPMA by AAPC or AHIMA preferred
  • Minimum one (1) year of medical billing or coding experience
  • Understanding of medical terminology required
  • Ability to work independently or as an active member of a team
  • Strong computer skills in data entry, coding, and knowledge of computer software (Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
