Job Title:            Warehouse & Logistics Manager     

Department:       Materials

SUMMARY

Responsible for the supervision, leadership and management of the shipping & receiving functions, outside storage areas, internal/external warehouse management, cycle counting and inventory rotation. Responsible for compliance to all customer and legal compliance regulations regarding the shipment and receiving of goods. Ensure all system transactions, inventory and shipments are accurate.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

·       Responsible for supervising, lead and manage the shipping & receiving functions, outside storage areas, materials handlers, etc.

·       Develop and continually manage warehouse layout that will optimize floor space and material flow throughout the facility.

·       Set and maintain inventory levels for all materials and intermediate products to support supply plan and inventory goals.

·       Ensure employees adhere to company policies.

·       Conduct annual performance reviews.

·       Administer discipline in accordance with the company’s policies.

·       Report safety concerns to environmental health and safety or human resource manager.

·       Ensure Layered-Process-Audits (LPA) assigned are conducted as scheduled.

·       Create reports and monitor the system daily to ensure data accuracy.

·       Ensure all customer orders are appropriately packaged and shipped promptly, accurately and meets customer and legal compliance regulations.

·       Ensure National Motor Freight Classifications area assigned properly to all materials being shipped and received at CLC.

·       Ensure all materials are received promptly, are accurately recorded in computer system and are labeled with CLC Part# identification.

·       Participate in and conduct Cycle Counting and Physical Inventories. Report results and variances to Inventory Control area.

·       Ensure the dock is managed; establish set times for shipping and receiving windows with carriers, when necessary.

·       Identify and select carriers for standard and expedited shipments.

·       Ensure Shipping Discrepancy log accurately reflects items that did not ship on time to meet customer demands.

·       Manage and Report NAFTA compliance documentation.

·       Provide Certificate of Origin information upon request.

·       Arrange scrap trailer exchange as needed. Arrange disposal of cardboard scrap as well.

·       Ability to interface with Customers, Suppliers, Logistics providers, Truck drivers, hourly and salaried production and office personnel.

·       Update A3 metrics monthly along with Materials Manager.  

·       Support IATF and MMOG audits, guidelines, and initiatives.

·       Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

 

 

 

 

 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Direct reports include  Materials Supervisor, Team Leaders, Shipping & Receiving Clerk, Shipping Technicians.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

·       Ability to cultivate supplier & customer relationships. 

·       Excellent understanding of ERP systems such as IQMS, or similar MRP system.

·       Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, MS Access, Crystal Reporting.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in business management or a technically related field or minimum of 7 years working experience in a manufacturing environment. Extensive knowledge and experience in warehousing, OSHA requirements, purchasing, inventory planning, supervision, and MRP systems. Requires a minimum of 3-5 years management experience. Must be able to drive forklifts. A combination of education and experience will be considered.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to write reports and business correspondence; ability to effectively read and interpret blue prints;

ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals, groups of associates,

management representatives, suppliers and customers. Ability to utilize computerized word processing and

e-mail systems in the day-to-day functions of the job.

Bilingual English – Spanish is a plus.

 

Reasoning Ability:

Requires analytical and problem solving knowledge, ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

 

Certificate, Licenses or Registrations:

APICS CPIM certification preferred, but not required.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is occasionally exposed to fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals and outside weather conditions.  Exposure to extreme heat or cold may be encountered.  The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.

Work will typically be from eight to ten hours per day, five days a week, with occasional travel, by car or commercial aircraft, for external meetings with customers.  Must be able to travel on short notice both nationally and internationally.
