Job Summary:

 

The Corporate Accountant is responsible for managing and overseeing the general accounting operations of the company and supporting the decision making process based on the company’s financial stability. They are responsible to ensure all financial transactions are properly and accurately recorded in the financial system and oversee the integrity of information from other departments within the company. Their duties include monthly financial statement preparation, monitoring cash flow, meeting with the company President and CEO to discuss the best practices for company finances, and developing strategic plans to improve the company’s overall financial health; this position reports to the CEO.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Manage the daily workflow of the accounting department
  • Hire and train new accounting staff members
  • Conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive 
  • Handle discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Leadership skills with the ability to delegate, motivate, and inspire team members
  • Honesty and integrity
  • Ability to manage time effectively
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills 
  • Team player with a positive ”can-do” approach
  • Knowledge of accounting guidelines and practices
  • Bachelor Degree in finance, accounting, or a similar field  
  • Minimum of three (3) years in an accounting management position
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds
  • Ability to work some Saturdays, Sundays, and at night, when necessary
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Primary point of responsibility for all accounting tasks and operations
  • Communicate effectively with contracted accounting firm
  • Managing accounting staff
  • Maintaining accurate accounting records and monitoring expenditures
  • Overseeing payroll and taxes
  • Coordinating external audits 
  • Reconciling financial accounts 
  • Generate and analyze financial statements
  • Prepare monthly accounting journal entries
  • Assist with annual budget preparation
  • Execute the company’s financial strategic plan
  • Assist the CEO and President to develop financial plans
  • Perform other duties as assigned
