Job Title:                     Clothing Retail Associate, Part time

(full time options may become available)

Classification:             Non-Exempt

Pay Range:                  $11-13/hr.

Reports to:                  Store Manager

Summary/Objective

The overall objective of this position is to provide fast, flexible and friendly service to all Platinum Beauty customers by “ringing up” goods; accurately exchanging monies for goods; answering questions and addressing concerns; and acting as the face of the company during the customer’s shopping experience. High performing retail associates maximize sales by means of excellent customer service, brand knowledge, and product use expertise.

Essential Functions

·      Smile and provide prompt and friendly service while engaging customers to create a positive shopping experience

·      Interact with customers with the intention of developing store loyalty (e.g., remember names, usual topics of conversation, etc.)

·      Scan each item, ensuring accuracy in areas such as item price, item quantity, and item quality (e.g., check eggs to ensure there are no broken shells)

·      Maintaining an understanding of product types, uses, and applications

·      Understanding each transaction type (e.g., check, cash, debit, credit) and the procedures associated with it

·      Engaging in cleaning activities when necessary to ensure a sanitary and welcoming store environment

·      Engage with each customer, and make every attempt to ensure high-quality customer service

·      Adhere to all company guidelines, policies, procedures, and standard practices

Marginal Functions

·      Be courteous and helpful to other associates, possess the ability to “cover down” in other departments in the event of an absence or illness of another employee

·      Report any and all “abnormal” issues to management (e.g., register malfunctions, etc.)

·      Observe and correct all unsafe conditions that could cause associate or customer accidents

·      Successfully complete all company-assigned trainings

·      Aide other employees with other store functions, such as cleaning, stocking, labeling, etc. when necessary

·      The ability to complete each transaction in a organized and straightforward manner

·      The ability to apply products to each customer’s individual needs. The ability to recommend the right product to the right customer

Supervisory Responsibilities

None. This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This position requires employees to work indoors (in a temperature-controlled environment).

Physical Demands

This position requires employees to stand for lengthy periods of time; occasionally lift some moderately heavy objects; reach and grasp at waist level, but sometimes below waist or above shoulder level; handle a variety of substances associated with cleaning and packaging materials.

Mental Demands

This position requires that employees be highly organized and detail oriented. Retail associates are expected to learn and retain a wealth of information including product uses and applications, like-item locations, and brand-recognition. Most importantly, cashiers are the face of the company, so their actions will have a direct effect on customer satisfaction, loyalty, and repeat business.

Travel

None required aside from commute to physical location. 

Education

HS Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Certifications

None required. 

Experience

6 months of retail experience preferred but not required. Will train the right person.
