Beaufort Eye Center is a busy adult ophthalmology practice with three practicing surgeons. Ophthalmology Technician Description
Beaufort Eye Center has an immediate opening for full-time ophthalmic technicians/medical assistants. We are looking for some experience in the medical field (can be full-time, part-time, or through internships) in roles such as a medical technician or medical assistant. This position will require significant close patient contact and rapport building.
BEC is a busy private practice with three practicing surgeons. We are looking for team players who are flexible, hardworking, and willing to learn as we are dedicated to training and growing our staff within the practice. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Record patient medical/family histories including current and past personal ocular history. Test and record the patient's far acuity, near acuity, peripheral vision, depth perception, and color perception.
· Measure intraocular pressure of eyes (glaucoma test), including applanation.
· Performs ancillary tests such as lensometry, corneal topography, A scans, B scans, keratometry, manual refractions, fundus photography, slit lamp photography and visual fields, (including central and peripheral vision).
· Scribe for the physician when applicable.
· Apply drops to anesthetize, dilate, or medicate eyes.
· Collect and process specimens for appropriate laboratory testing. Prepares and stocks exam rooms; assists with exams.
· Triage emergency cases appropriately into physicians’ schedule, maintains patient flow
· Perform first level maintenance on ophthalmic equipment and notifies office manager of any equipment malfunctions.

Experience:
· Full-time or part-time experience in the medical field, or comparable education.
