Pay starting at $20.67 an hour, not including shift premium

$2.00 an hour OT Bonus if work 48 hours or more in a week.

Position Summary

The purpose of this position is to provide leadership, support and direction of hourly personnel for the operation of the injection molding lines so that quality, cost and production targets are met.

Technical Skill Requirements:

1. High School diploma or GED

2. Additional training in management or leadership principles preferred

3. 2-4 years professional experience working on the production floor in a manufacturing facility, preferably in the automotive components industry

4. Previous experience leading and supervising other employees is preferred

5. Previous maintenance experience is preferred, with knowledge of equipment repair principles and techniques

6. Excellent time management skills, with a sense of urgency

7. Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills

8. Ability to stay calm in a fast-paced, stressful environment

9. Knowledge of quality principles and methods

10. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution and motivational skills

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Provide leadership and direction to the operation of the injection production lines

a. Establish and communicate production schedules

b. Assign work to hourly workers and monitor their work activity

c. Ensure workers are trained, cross-trained, and work in a safe manner

d. Manage employee attendance and other HR/employee relations issues

e. Problem solve production issues and determine countermeasures

f. Troubleshoot equipment

g. Ensure all policies and procedures are followed

h. Perform quality audits to assure quality parts are being manufactured

i. Manage scrap and seek continuous improvement

j. Complete reports and data requirements for tracking performance

k. Intershift communication with other team leaders

l. Conduct inventory in WIP and finished goods

m. Coordinate deliveries and shipments with Shipping

n. Perform duties of absent workers, as needed

o. Communicate with other departments and management, as necessary

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has direct supervisory responsibilities for the following positions: injection technicians and operators. Duties include planning work for subordinates, observing performance, appraising, developing, coaching and holding subordinates accountable for results.

Environment and Conditions

Contacts

The incumbent spends approximately over 50% of his/her time developing and maintaining business contacts within the organization and 0% of his/her time with external contacts. The purpose of these contacts is to discuss personnel problems, to discuss maintenance and equipment problems, make calls to customers for part issues, to address quality issues, to transition between shifts and to deal with delivery issues.

Working Conditions

This position works in an open office environment and on the production floor. Exposure to weather elements is not likely. Incumbents are not likely to drive a vehicle while performing job responsibilities. Incumbents spend approximately 13% sitting, 22% standing and 65% walking in the course of this position and are unlikely to lift anything greater than 29 pounds. Incumbents will use the following office machines while performing job duties: computer, printer, copier, fax, telephone and calculator.
