The Line and Prep cooks in Urban Food Group restaurants have the incredibly important responsibility of providing outstanding food, prepared and cooked accurately to order in a fast paced, sometimes high pressure environment. The requirements of being a Cook in an Urban Food Group restaurant are not easy ones, but are highly valued and respected in our company.

It is our expectation that UFG Cooks have the ability to maintain the requirements listed in the Dishwasher portion of UFG Job Descriptions in addition to those listed in the General Job Description.
As well, UFG Cooks are expected to maintain the following abilities:
- Ability to accurately prepare and set up their ‘station’ in advance of a busy service
- Ability to accurately prepare and cook food to the standard set forth through training
- Ability to safely work with equipment and food that can reach extreme temperatures
- Ability to safely work with equipment with sharp edges and extreme temperatures
- Ability to follow all safety standards associated with working in a kitchen atmosphere
- Ability to quickly and accurately follow instruction
- Ability to maintain the highest level of quality while working at a fast pace
- Ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Ability to identify sub-standard food and/or preparation of food
- Ability to report sub-standard food or preparation to supervising chef immediately
- Ability to maintain a good attitude while dealing with high pressure demands
- Ability to follow the chain of command within the kitchen confines
- Ability to work in an environment of extreme temperatures
- Ability to complete all beginning-of-service and end-of-service assignments
