General description:

The Company is seeking a business leader with a desire to excel in a high impact, autonomous role with a fast-growing company in the specialty pharmacy management services industry.  The ideal candidate should have a proven track record as a business unit leader in multi-site healthcare companies.  The applicant must have experience managing a P&L for their business unit.  Applicant should be service-oriented, patient-centric and results driven with a positive outlook, a motivational style and a clear focus on performance accountability and employee development. The applicant must be able to work as a member of a close-knit team.

 Job Purpose 

The Regional Vice President of Operations will oversee the day-to-day operations of the hospital system sites within their region, identifying growth and optimization opportunities.  He/she will be responsible and incentivized for the quality of care and financial performance of their region.  The role will have the following objectives:  (1) manage all Shields partnerships (within a region), including client relationships, site P&Ls and on-going growth initiatives, (2) standardize operating procedures and services across all partners (3) drive growth and operating efficiency across all regional partnerships and (4) ensure the highest level of clinical care and compliance is achieved in all locations and (5) work with the business development team implementing and operating new health system partnership engagements.

Job Duties:

  • Manages all facets of designated hospital system account(s) including full P&L responsibility
  • Accountability for financial performance inclusive of the following: revenue, growth, patient acquisition and retention, margin, actual versus budget
  • Ensures that client objectives are fully met by developing and maintaining strong relationships with C-Suite, Business Unit, Pharmacy team and the Physician/Clinical staff
  • Process-focused and decisive to ensure effective execution of all strategies/initiatives to meet company and client needs with a high standard of excellence, urgency and predictability
  • Commitment to exceptional, patient-centric service delivery.  Fully versed in clinical service needs and meets all expectations and requirements of Specialty Pharmacy operation and compliance including but not limited to URAC and ACHC standards
  • Proactively engages internal support functions to optimize performance including but not limited to: Patient Support Center, TelemetryRx, revenue cycle management, 340b, data analytics, and human resources
  • Develops a deep understanding of challenges health systems face and creatively identifies way in which the specialty pharmacy can assist in resolving these clinical and financial challenges
  • Adept at circumventing roadblocks and challenges using ingenuity, determination and advocacy to achieve desired outcomes; refuses to accept the first "no" and independently devises & executes alternate approaches
  • Intense focus on client satisfaction.  Addresses client concerns promptly, utilizing strong customer service skills.  Develops and executes solutions/resolutions as necessary
  • Adept at translating corporate strategy into front line operational tactics without heavy corporate oversight
  • Provides leadership and day-to-day performance management and accountability to all dedicated account staff including but not limited to Patient Service Managers, Liaisons, Pharmacy Manager and Pharmacy Staff
  • Identifies and implements operational efficiencies and standardization
  • Participates in interviewing, hiring, orientation, onboarding, and recurring training of staff
  • Creates a great work environment and inspires teamwork and partnership at all levels
  • Problem solving skills related to care delivery, workflow integration, and multifunctional teams internal and external to Shields Health Solutions
  • Ability to influence others without formal authority
  • Knowledge of and strict adherence to accreditation standards, payer contracts and manufacturer contracts
  • Understands and articulates region's market trends, market changes and evolving competitive landscape
  • Working knowledge of and adherence to all applicable state and federal laws and regulations including but not limited to board of pharmacy regulations, local,  state and federal regulations.

Experience/Education

  • 10+ years of experience leading large, diverse and remote teams as well as a track record of working in an autonomous role / position.
  • Bachelor's degree required, MBA preferred
  • Strong background in operations with prior P&L experience over multiple business units or client sites
  • Private equity, investment banking or professional services experience strongly preferred
