This position requires knowledge and application of fundamental electrical design/drafting concepts, practices, procedures and established standards to produce products and services that are of high quality, striving for zero defects.

  • Responsible for the preparation of naval nuclear reactor plant instrumentation and control electrical system schematics. 
  • Provide wiring/cabling lists, interconnection diagrams, etc. necessary for shipyard construction and installation of equipment associated with a functional system. 
  • Check system equipment vendor drawings for accuracy and function. 
  • Responsible for the generation of layouts and subsequent preparation of final system schematics for naval nuclear reactor plant instrumentation and control systems. 
  • Coordinate the activities of other drafting personnel assigned to help prepare system schematics. 
  • May be required to direct the activities of other design personnel fostering a positive team environment.

Required Skills

Associates degree in Electrical Technology degree or equivalent degree

Knowledge of fundamental design and drafting concepts

Preferred Skills

Computer Aided Design experience

GPA of 2.8/4.0 or greater

Strong academic performance trend in mathematical and physical science course work

Knowledge/application of fundamental design and drafting concepts obtained through an internship, related work experience or school project

Experience with electrical design concepts

Knowledge of electronic design technology related to electrical/electronic control and instrumentation schematics for nuclear reactor power plants

Knowledge of Institute of Electronics and Electrical Engineer (IEEE) Standards

Demonstrated ability to research assignments, identify key tasks and milestones, and complete assignments as planned to meet customer or personal commitments

Demonstrated ability to manage work with the appropriate levels of independence

Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment

Demonstrated ability to provide high levels of customer service
