The Sr. Hardware Quality Engineer will provide quality engineering support and expertise to Raytheon Intelligence & Space to ensure compliance with contractual, company, and regulatory requirements.

Additional roles and responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:
  • Use critical thinking resources and methods to improve product design; minimize inspection; resolve manufacturing defects/problems; complete such specialized quality functions as data preparation, analyses, and reporting
  • Perform product and process audits for compliance to various standards and product requirements
  • Perform Process Failure Modes & Effects Analysis on processes and products to prevent product defects and mitigate risk
  • Develop product Quality Control Plans
  • Develop product acceptance techniques and plans
  • Lead and support factory and product process improvements
  • Lead and support root cause and corrective action activities
  • Support hardware quality drawing & design reviews.
  • Support Mission Assurance requirements for an electronic assembly and integration area with high product mix where review and quality disposition of products is essential.
  • Assure special test equipment (STE) and tooling comply with approved assembly and tooling drawings, assembly instructions, test procedures and metrology requirements
  • Act on all applicable material, product and equipment alerts to prevent impact to product reliability using the nonconformance and/or purge process
  • Manage dropped and damaged hardware processing and incident reporting.
U.S. Citizenship required as the candidate must have the ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance within first year of start date.

Required Skills
  • Minimum of 5 years related professional engineering experience
  • Minimum of 3 years as a Quality, Manufacturing or Engineering professional
  • Experience with project/program bid and proposal development
  • Experience with AS 9100 Quality Management systems
  • Experience with Project Management, and Risk and Opportunity Management
  • Experience with electronics manufacturing and assembly
  • Experience with metrology, measurement resources and practices
  • Ability to write clear presentations and technical reports, including proficiency with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Thorough organizational, collaborative and communication skills
  • Experience with customer interface for product acceptance and/or corrective action response
  • Must be able to travel as needed to support external customers and suppliers
Desired Skills
  • Knowledge and inspection application of J-STD-001
  • Knowledge with the application of Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Part Production Approval Process (PPAP) (AS9145)
  • Practical experience of Six Sigma methodologies (e.g. Kaizen, Lean, Define/Measure/Analyze/Improve/Control (DMAIC), and Define/Measure/Analyze/Design/Verify (DMADV) ) and resources (e.g. Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), Statistical Process Control (SPC), Capability Analysis, Design of Experiments (DOE), and Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA) ).
  • Experience in aerospace-related manufacturing environment

  • American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certified Quality Engineer Certification
  • Green Belt Certification
Required Education
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics
  • Bachelor of Art Degrees in an appropriate field of science (Computer Science, Chemistry or Physics)
