Helm has an immediate need for a Merchandise Buyer to join our growing Team! This position will be brand expert and will work to ensure every product represents the brands they are being selected for. Additionally, this position is responsible for seeking out suppliers, selecting merchandise and negotiating price and terms to maximize revenue for each of their brands. Must be passionate and highly self-motivated to provide impeccable customer service, delivering the very best.

• Ensure merchandise assortments that reflect and support client and brand ideas and trends – stay abreast of trends through vendor communication, trade shows and internet research

• Identifies new items, hot trends and new categories

• Vendor negotiations/relations – procure the best terms for cost, freight, payment,

co-op advertising, rebates and allowances

• Maximize gross margin rate/profit contribution

• Negotiate for special costs for seasonal peak merchandise

• Maximize sales of client websites, catalogs and flyers by reviewing sales data

• Communicate with both the sales, marketing and creative teams to ensure the proper voice of customer is identified

• Work with the planning team to identify future buy targets as well as slow moving items throughout the time for markdown candidates

• Prepare product line previews to present to both the sales team and clients where needed

• Identify special, limited time product promotions that create excitement and drive revenue

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree in purchasing, merchandising, supply chain, marketing or a related field. Work experience in a buying or purchasing related field required.
