Job Description: The IT Principal Information Systems Technologist for High Performance Computing (HPC) plays a key role in the delivery and support of HPC capabilities for the business. This position includes responsibility for the configuration and support of HPC environments. The position also requires collaboration with stakeholders to help define the strategic direction for HPC in the business.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Lead the infrastructure support activities for the HPC environment including the coordination of suppliers and internal support staff. The environment includes multiple integrated computing clusters and advanced High Performance Computing systems on Windows & Linux
  • Install, configure and administer HPC environments at multiple locations in the business (servers, OS, storage, backup, network, cluster management tools, job schedulers, user account provisioning, proactive monitoring and performance tuning)
  • Maintain infrastructure security standards for all systems & employ security hardening techniques
  • Develop and maintain automation capabilities to streamline the environment and support operations
  • Support applications teams for the installation and configuration of software applications
  • Identify, collect, and maintain HPC support metrics including capacity, utilization, performance, and availability
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans
  • Create and maintain technical documentation
  • Troubleshoot and fix problems related to HPC computing software and hardware

Required Skills:
  • 8 years of experience in UNIX/Linux and Windows systems administration
  • 3-6 years of Hosting, Storage, Backup
  • Experience with VMware VSphere (ESXi, vCenter, etc)
  • Experience with High Performance Computing Systems & Support
  • Systems deployment, administration, performance tuning, and monitoring
  • Automation via scripting
  • Experience with Service Desk and Knowledgebase
  • Experience designing end to end service models in an enterprise setting
  • Experience developing service scripts
  • Infrastructure backup, restore, disaster recovery and business continuity
  • Critical thinking – ability to solve technical problems independently and with collaborative teams
  • Proven understanding of datacenter concepts and technologies
  • Effective written and interpersonal communication
  • Ability to translate business issues, requirements and objectives into technical solutions
  • Ability to lead high performance computing center integration
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems
Desired Skills:
  • Cloud computing (AWS, Azure)
  • Experience with Infiniband, WekaIO, SLURM, and LSF
  • Familiarity with Splunk & Centrify products
  • CompTIA Security+, Red Hat certified system administrator or other industry-recognized certifications relevant to Windows & Linux system administration
  • Familiar with Chef, Ansible, Puppet, CFEngine, etc.
  • ITIL Foundations and/or ITIL Service Operations
  • Executive communication and presentation experience
  • Six Sigma Specialist / process improvement background
  • Project / Program Management (PMP)
  • Hadoop / Cloudara
Required Education (including Major):
  • Bachelors degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 8 years of relevant experience or in lieu of a Bachelor's in STEM, 16 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree
