Leidos is seeking a Field Engineer Technician. This is a position to work remotely in the Concord, CA area.

The successful Engineering Tech candidate will support the following activities: 
o    Travel to sites as needed, perform inspections and return to the office to perform engineering design work. 
o    Perform engineering calculations such as: structural analysis for wood pole loading, guying calculations, specifying conductor sags and tensions for recommended spans, and calculation of voltage drop and flicker. 
o    Coordinate with permit agencies, right-of-way specialists, system owners, field leaders, forestry leaders, and 3rd party owners for joint-owned poles. 
o    Provide engineering support during construction, including post-construction reviews to ensure all applicable engineering and construction standards have been met. 
o    Conduct root cause analysis of outages and mitigation using engineering principles and design. 
 

Basic Qualifications:

o    High School diploma or equivalent and 2-4 years of related experience. Or an AA degree in related discipline and less than 2 years of related experience.
o  Must be local to the area. Will be working remotely, out of your home, and will be reimbursed for mileage. 
o    Knowledge of NESC Standards and Client Standards preferred. 
o    Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) required 
o    Excellent verbal and written communications skills 
o    Willingness to perform both field and office work. 
o    Overnight travel may be required (10-20% travel) 
o    Ability to work in outdoor environments 
o    Ability to utilize personal vehicle, cell phone and 8MP camera

The ideal candidate has prior experience doing field work and distribution component identification.
