The Aerospace Corporation's Communication Architectures Department may be the group you want to join. Our group performs trade studies, analyses, and simulations to optimize the overall communications performance of terrestrial, satellite, launch vehicle, and ground based systems. We also guide the development of spectrum regulations and policies to assure critical wireless systems have access to necessary spectrum resources. We are seeking a Communication Spectrum Engineer to provide spectrum engineering as well as analyze and create communication analysis tools, which can be utilized for efficient and effective spectrum management. Key Functions Provide systems engineering and spectrum management support in space and terrestrial communication architectures Assist in analyzing next generation of communication architectures, requirements, and space policy AssistPerform radio frequency interference analysis of communication systems to promote spectrum sharing and resolve spectrum contention issues Provide analysis and evaluations of national and international spectrum policy activities Survey and identify trends in spectrum usage and develop new communication architectures and concepts Assess the performance of satellite and ground systems, communications links, and wireless network protocols Present technical and project status briefings to management and customers Travel to customer facilities This role can be filled as an Aerospace Member of Technical Staff or Senior Member of Technical Staff Qualifications Required Degree from an accredited university in engineering or science Minimum of 2 years relevant experience Active, or able to acquire, Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information (TSSCI) clearance. (ship required) Abilitiy to be trained in spectrum management, spectrum policy, and spectrum regulations Background in communication systems Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and communication skills Ability to present results effectively in briefings and technical reports Excellent organizational, as well as written and oral communication skills Preferred Master's Degree or Ph.D. in electrical engineering, communications, or systems engineering Active Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information (TSSCI) clearance Strong knowledge in communication systems, architectures, and networks Knowledge of International Telecommunications Union (ITU) Radio Regulations and Allocations and National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) spectrum management systems and processes Working knowledge of interoperability and standards spectrum management protocols and infrastructures wireless communications and network design Strong software skills (Python, CC++, Matlab, ...) Qualifications for consideration as a Senior Member of Technical Staff Required Degree from an accredited university in engineering or science Minimum of 5 years relevant experience Active, or able to acquire, Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information (TSSCI) clearance. (ship required) High aptitude for leadership and ability to mentor more junior engineers Strong interest spectrum management, spectrum policy, and spectrum regulations Strong background in communication systems, architectures, and networks Strong software development skills Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and communication skills Ability to present results effectively in briefings and technical reports Excellent organizational, as well as written and oral communication, skills Preferred for Senior Member of Technical Staff Master's Degree or Ph.D. in electrical engineering, communications, or systems engineering Active Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information (TSSCI) clearance.
