Kelly Outsourcing & Consulting Group (KellyOCG), a managed solution provider and business unit of Kelly Services, Inc., is currently seeking an Analytical Lab Tech for a long-term engagement at one of our Global clients in Elizabethtown, KY.  This role is a full-time, fully benefitted position.   As a KellyOCG employee you will be eligible for Medical, Dental, 401K and a variety of other benefits to choose from.   You’ll also be eligible for paid time off, including holiday, vacation and sick/personal time.  All KellyOCG employees receive annual performance reviews. 

As an Analytical Lab Tech placed with KellyOCG you will be responsible for the following:

Summary:

The Lab Technician conducts chemical and physical laboratory tests utilizing various equipment (Gas Chromatograph, Rheometers, Viscometers, Ion Chromatograph, FTIR pH, etc.) to assist scientist in making qualitative and quantitative analyses of solids, liquids and gaseous materials for research and development of new products or processes, quality control, maintenance of environmental standards and other work involving experimental, theoretical or practical application of chemistry and related sciences.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Performs sample preparation
  • Analyzes routine samples (both process and product) safely, accurately and efficiently following prescribed procedures.
  • Performs analytical test equipment validation via documented procedures
  • Reports test result data accurately using the proper media (Sample Manager and SAP). 
  • Identifies atypical test results and communicates them to lab supervision and operations personnel. 
  • Applies 5S principles to maintain a clean and safe laboratory.  

Additional Responsibilities: 

  • Prepares reagents and standard solutions
  • Calibrates equipment as necessary 
  • Ensures accuracy of test results through the use of statistical techniques (SPC).  

Knowledge/Skills Required: 

  • Basic knowledge of laboratory techniques (gravimetric, volumetric, and temperature measurements, etc.).
  • Basic computing skills in Microsoft Windows and Office Suite. 
  • Must be capable of applying basic math skills.

- Must be able to understand and carry out instructions concerning standardized or non- standardized requirements, methods and procedures. 

- Offer suggestions for procedures that need better clarification and escalate to leadership to ensure procedure gets updated/improved

- Escalate issues, provide ideas for fixing the problem and be part of the solution.

- Have initiative, be proactive

- Must have sufficient judgment to ask questions when in doubt regarding procedures or instructions.

- Must be able to understand and follow all plant safety and security rules and regulations. 

- Must be able to recognize hazards and avoid creating hazards to himself/herself, fellow employees, the general public and the environment.

- Must be able to exercise sufficient judgment to prevent product losses and protect Company equipment.

- Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information concerning product process relative to Company business.

- Must have ability to do math calculations and read process instructions and material safety data sheets.

- Must be safety-minded and have good housekeeping habits.  

- Must actively work to improve the safety performance of fellow employees by giving and receiving feedback on safety.

- Must be able to work the 2nd or 3rd shift, as needed by the client. Some weekends my be required.

 

Education/Certification/Experience Requirements         

- Must be at least 18 years of age and Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.

A minimum of 20 hours of college chemistry is required.

- A 4-year degree in Chemistry or Biology is preferred.

- Must be able to read, write, and verbally communicate in English.

- Must be able to calculate various measurements using basic math skills.
