Under the general direction of the Specialty Pharmacy Manager, works autonomously to provide comprehensive pharmaceutical services in areas including, but not limited to hepatitis C, oncology, hematology, inflammatory diseases, and multiple sclerosis. Assure quality and appropriateness of outpatient services; effectively utilize technical support. Maintains a positive relationship with physicians, patients, all other health care providers, and staff. Ensures that outpatient services are compliant with State and Federal laws and rules.

 

Key Responsibilities:   

  1. Works with the pharmacy team to provide high quality patient care. Attentive and responsive to the needs of patients. Demonstrates excellent communication skills. Represent the department in a positive manner.
  2. Cultivates a patient oriented service. Leads by example by modeling professional behavior. Ensures patient satisfaction by addressing patient questions and concerns effectively.
  3. Effectively utilizes and supervises technicians to maintain an accurate and efficient outpatient pharmacy system. Re-directs staff when necessary to ensure that service performance metrics goals are met.
  4. Maintains professional knowledge of disease states, drug therapy, and drug products. Attend Continuing Education (CE) programs and maintain active involvement in professional organizations. Maintains licensure and vaccine certification with the New Hampshire Board of Pharmacy
  5. Works with business development team to grow specialty pharmacy by calling on physicians and strategically assessing specialty network, limited distribution, and pipeline opportunities
  6. Carries a pager on rotation with other Specialty Pharmacists to cover the emergency contact line
  7. Performs all duties of a registered pharmacist in the state of NH including providing vaccinations approved for administration by the NH Board of Pharmacy. This requirement causes a regular, or frequent potential occupational exposure to blood or bodily fluids and is assigned a Level 1 Classification for occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens. The employee may be expected to render medical assistance as part of their job description. Blood borne pathogen training is required and hepatitis B vaccinations will be offered.
  8. Maintains URAC and other accreditations
  9. Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Required Licensure/Certification Skills:

  • Must have a current, unrestricted pharmacist licensed to practice in the state of NH.
  • If practicing at a VT location, must have a current, unrestricted pharmacist license to practice in VT.
  • BLS Certification within 30 days of hire for Clinical Pharmacists in the Retail or Specialty Pharmacy
  • Board Certification in Specialty Pharmacy (CSP) within 3 years of hire for Clinical Pharmacists in the Specialty Pharmacy
