Our Global Corporate Actions team has primary operating centers in Edinburgh (UK), Wilmington, Delaware (US), Gurgaon (India) and Singapore (APAC). Our objective is to lead and provide a high-quality service assuring consistent methodology through the application of controls designed to mitigate risk to the Firm and our Clients. Our team operates as a single, global entity designed around a robust and mature "pass-the-book" philosophy allowing the effective and controlled transition of workload across our primary locations.

As an Analyst/Associate you will be part of our globally distributed team responsible for handling and providing high quality Corporate Action service in accordance with our standards of standard methodology through governance and controls to mitigate to our clients and the firm. You will perform a multi-functional review and announce events to our partners. You will be responsible for the creation of events and lead the corporate action process throughout the entire event lifecycle. You will serve as a liaison with BlackRock's Global Custodian network. You will work in BlackRock's proprietary operating platform, Aladdin, where there are a number of applications including the Corporate Actions Manager (CAM) which facilitates and supports workflows throughout the Corporate Action Event process.

Responsibilities

  • Creation and timely processing of all events

  • Interacting with Portfolio Management Groups ensuring corporate actions are communicated and all necessary elections are received and acted upon.

  • Certifying all necessary corporate action instructions are issued and acknowledged by custodians and counterparties.

  • Daily processing to confirm all corporate action events across all markets and asset types (equities, fixed income and derivatives) are accurately processed, reviewed and reconciled as necessary according to procedures and event deadlines.

  • Monitoring CAM program throughout the business day and, along with team members, effectively handling volumes over future periods.

  • Support Middle Office Clients on Corporate Action related matters.

  • Investigating reconciliation discrepancies daily to ensure all discrepancies are resolved and cleared at the earliest opportunity

  • Ensuring the appropriate restriction status of entitlements is maintained in BlackRock applications through interaction with custodians and updating accordingly.

  • Handling any queries received from various internal and external parties.

  • Interacting with other BlackRock teams and the third parties/custodians as appropriate.

  • Raising all material risk items and service issues to your Team Leader/Manager on a timely basis.

  • Communicating with Team Leaders and Global Managers to facilitate and support the globally distributed team structure.

  • Participating in local, regional and global initiatives/projects in conjunction with the team
Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in related field (preferred but not required).

  • Minimum of 1-3 years' experience in a Corporate Actions role and have a general understanding of Financial Markets, preferably within the Investment Management or Global Custody environment.

  • Understanding of the risks inherent in the corporate actions environment and demonstrate discipline around control and critical issues.

  • Ability to analyze and synthesize data in a concise and easy to understand style.

  • Strong client and partner service orientation.

  • Strong control / risk mitigation attitude; ability to apply judgement as to when to raise issues.

  • Proven proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) to work directly with clients and across all levels of staff and management.

  • An interest in technology & data (Highly Desirable)

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a dynamic environment to meet deadlines.

  • Focus on continuous improvement and process innovation.

  • An interest to learn or experience in coding languages (R, Python, Java, CSS, HTML).

  • Database experience (SQL, Cassandra, Solr, stored procedures, and data modelling) a plus.
