Senior Systems Engineer

The Boeing Company is growing and expanding operations in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and has an immediate opportunity for a Senior Systems Engineer on the Space Based Space Surveillance (SBSS) program.

The SBSS Program, located in Colorado Springs, Colorado is seeking a highly motivated Systems Engineer to execute and coordinate activities in this fast paced, highly dynamic space operations environment for the US Space Force. We provide system engineering, as well as sustainment and mission operations support for the day to day execution of this national asset used to identify and track space objects used for the Space Domain Awareness mission.

This position will include opportunities to work with both the space and ground segments, as well as the opportunity to work with a unique state of the art “cross domain” data distribution system known as “Red LAN”. This position is assigned directly to the Senior Engineering Manager for the program.

Position Responsibilities:

• Troubleshooting operational issues in the space, ground and communications segments

• Leading and providing engineering support for anomaly resolution activities

• Aiding US Space Force operators with mission operations and data dissemination execution

• Participating in system and operations development activities

• Coordinating resources, procedures and timelines for build, test and installation events

• Negotiating change requests with internal and program customer leadership

• Coordinating implementation of quick-turn operational changes

This position requires an active Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

• 3+ years’ experience in US Department of Defense processes

• 3+ years’ experience in Satellite or Space Programs

• 5+ years’ experience working in Systems Engineering

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or Science.

Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation:

This position does not offer relocation.  Candidate must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
