Job Summary: Responsible for providing oversight to the entire Career Services department including supervision, training, assessment, and the generation of records and reports. Responsible for working with the Career Services team to ensure that HACC students are career ready, that they are engaged in career development throughout their experience, and that they connect their in-class learning to the workforce. Responsible for ensuring that the Career Services team builds connections with employers and other external constituencies. Reports to the Associate Vice President, Student Progression.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and 3 years experience, including 2 years supervisory/management experience, or a combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties of the job successfully.

Licensing Requirements: Valid Driver’s License
MBTI certification or willing to obtain it within the first six months of employment.

Hiring Range: $67,973 - $86,665

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience leading a career services team
Experience in higher education, particularly at the community college level
Experience with career services, career development, human resources, or a related field of work

Job Specific Task List:

1. Ensures the creation and successful implementation of policies, procedures, and activities related to career services, consistent with HACC's overall missions and strategic plans; Identifies and resolves problems; Ensures consistent application of rules and regulations, and handles complies and high-level complaints or issues consulting with other college leadership as necessary.

2. Develops expertise in the content area. Remains current on new and innovative practices in the field; develops and maintains a network with colleagues through professional organizations and other types of professional alliances.

3. Provides the vision for an integrated career development plan for the college that ensures students’ career development needs are met, that they develop skills in professionalism and career readiness, and that they participate in career development experiences throughout their life cycle. This plan should also ensure that student, college, and employer needs are aligned in the delivery of career development activities and services. Leads the deployment of this career development plan college-wide.

4. Develops strong relationships and partnerships with employers, community partners, and government agencies that provide a gateway to jobs, internships, and educational experiences for HACC students and alumni. Maintains a presence with community organizations such as Chambers of Commerce that position the college as a leader in career education.

5. Works with college and department leaders to maintain an understanding of the economics of HACC’s service region by tracking labor statistics, demographic data, and other prosperity indicators that can inform students’ decisions about careers and career opportunities.

6. Develops and implements regular systems of data collection, reporting, and analysis. Oversees the creation and implementation of a collection process for first-destination employment outcomes and an assessment and performance management program to measure the effectiveness of all Career Services activities and staff.

7. Supervises career services staff members and deploys personnel resources to enact the college’s career development plan. Hires, trains, develops, motivates, supervises and evaluates staff consistent with organizational and strategic goals.

8. Develops a budget and prudently manages finances throughout the fiscal year, adhering to state, federal, and HACC fiscal policies and procedures. Direct the preparation of departmental budgets, financial reports, and grant-related budgets; monitor revenues and expenditures for best use of resources.

9. Travels to all HACC locations regularly, conducts regular group and individual meetings with Career Services staff, and consistently receives feedback from stakeholders to maximize the effectiveness of all Career Services activities. - (Essential)
