Role Overview and Responsibilities

Summary:  Plan, develops, and establishes policies and objectives of business organization in accordance with divisional leadership directives and corporate initiatives by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate managers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assists senior staff members in the development and formulation of long and short-range planning, policies, programs and objectives.
  • Facilitates a strategic leadership role within the plant and leadership team to assist in the organization’s long-term success and short-term financial stability.
  • Develops the manufacturing plan and establishes procedures for maintaining high standards of manufacturing operations to ensure that products conform to established customer and company quality standards.
  • Managing excellent customer performance in both operational delivery and new product introduction commitments.
  • Leading all operational activities including setting priorities, monitoring & continually improving performance.
  • Embedding the BE TT strategy and continuous improvement in operational performance as site through BE Lean, cost of quality and strategic procurement activities, working towards a culture of year over year improvement in efficiency.
  • Lead from the front to deliver best in class health and safety performance.
  • Establishing and developing the leadership with site and their teams through people development and effective succession planning.
  • Develops the supply chain strategy, material planning process and production planning methodologies to create an environment of optimized inventories and costs in balance with exceeding customer expectations for world class service.
  • Act as the executive sponsor representing all aspects of operations in the delivery of best in class service to our customers. Must work closely with customer management teams and sales organization to support business needs and helping to deliver on our brand promise.
  • Achieves optimum employee levels with least amount of overhead and raw material costs to meet annual budgetary plan.
  • Formulates and recommends manufacturing policies and programs based upon LEAN principles that guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and the profitability of the operation.
  • Directs and monitors department managers to accomplish goals of the manufacturing plan, consistent with established manufacturing and safety procedures.
  • Acts as liaison between department managements/subordinate levels, as well as executive/department manager levels to inform personnel of communications, decisions, policies and all matters that affect their performance, attitudes and results.
  • Hires, trains, develops and evaluates staff. Takes corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy. Ensures compliance with current federal, state and local regulations. Consults with Human Resources Department as appropriate.
  • Identifies, recommends and implements changes to improve productivity and reduce cost and scrap, monitor scrap and rework data. Directs the establishment, implementation and maintenance of production standards.
  • Directs and coordinates various programs essential to manufacturing procedures (e.g., training, safety, housekeeping, cost reduction, worker involvement, security, etc.).
  • Initiates and coordinates major projects (e.g., plant layout changes, installation of capital equipment, major repairs, etc.).
  • Fosters positive, collaborative relationships with site and divisional business partners including Finance and Human Resources.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required.

  • Education/Experience/Credentials: Master’s Degree (M.A.) or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and /or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, Team Members and the general public.   • Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to collect data, solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to maintain a professional and positive image in any situation using good judgment.
