Position Overview:
Lead Engineer, DevOps is responsible for building and maintaining our cloud environments, automating deployments, building CI/CD pipelines, building dashboards for monitoring and providing production support.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a globally distributed team of engineers to automate deployments of web sites, services, applications and infrastructure to Dev, QA, Staging and Production environments
- Maintain and build our cloud infrastructure in Azure, making it secure, scalable and cost effective
- Design and document Deployment and cloud architecture diagrams
- Work with Dev, Data and QA team members to meet product requirements
- Participate in scrum rituals and provide effort estimates for features
- Publish guidelines and best practices and mentor junior engineers on them
- Perform code reviews of infrastructure templates and scripts
- Champion cloud native best practices, CI/CD DevOps practices, and security and privacy guidelines
- Monitor and troubleshoot production issues and provide solutions to resolve them
- Notify stakeholders of system status and provide updates, while resolving issues
- Monitor, present and analyze logs and metrics data from cloud operations and recommend changes to improve performance and reduce cost.
Experience/Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in leading DevOps for highly available enterprise grade software and platform applications
- 3+ years of experience in Platform Engineering across various cloud computing models
- Hands-on expertise with significant experience in any two of these CI/CD tools: Jenkins, Octopus, Spinnaker, Helm, Azure DevOps and Bamboo
- Hands-on coding experience in a scripting language like bash, powershell, python
- Experience with Git, Jira, Confluence and similar issues tracking and collaboration tools
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Container Orchestrations, Docker, and Cloud Native applications
- Experience in using public cloud platform services, such as Azure and AWS
- Must have experience in cloud native application patterns and tools, microservice architectures, application migrations to any cloud platform
- Excellent understanding of Infrastructure, Virtualization, Containers, Network, Storage, Monitoring tools, Logging analytic tools (Splunk, etc.)
- Experience with Application Performance Management tools (Prometheus, Grafana)
- Experience building and supporting hybrid cloud environments
- Good understanding of Agile principles and processes
- Good understanding of data base systems (SQL/ NoSQL)
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in either Computer Science or a related scientific discipline or equivalent meaningful experience
